Crushed, /sadface
« on: July 02, 2008, 09:04:09 AM »
So while moving a large green recliner, my grip failed. As I attempted to catch the thing it decided to be too heavy and crush my hand against the floor.
I went to the ER, which sucks without insurance. The X-Rays say there aren't any fractures, but there is an incredible amount of bruising on all the fingers of my right hand. They're probably 3x the size they should be currently. The doctor I saw told me I'd have to wear this splint for a few days and ice it a few hours a day for about three weeks. I got lots of yummy pain killers for the pain.

I'm not sure how this will affect the jams, but I'm willing to show up and do what I can. I'm sick of this crap.

(My shoulder is nearly better and my ankle is fine, just as an update for those that were there last time.)

This took 20 minutes to type lol.

Well, its better than having a "crushed" face, which is what i thought when i saw the topic title :P

But yah, man thats sucks, you seem to always get injuries D=. But yes, if you can go that would be sweet, just don't make it worse  ;)

Reminder: Won't be at Jam this Saturday.

pain killers slow down the healing process

true but they make it feel SO much better, but in the long run the injury being healed is better than it feeling better at the current time

i would advise you to not get injured. that is the best way to go, because then you don't have to take painkillers.

I'll throw in another sad face for you.  :-(  Man, even your knee at the KC jam (I'm hoping that's fully healed by now?).  Of all the rotten luck!  Wish there was something more I could for ya besides offering encouragement.  If you think of anything, don't hesitate to ask.

The issue I'm having I think is the few days between my training sessions. When I take off a few days for this or that and come back, it's always a little more awkward than if I have been training a few hours a day for the last week. Unfortunately, time is my enemy here. As for pain killers slowing down the healing: so be it. Seriously, this hurts.
Anyhow, Springfield crew -- I'll see you guys at the next jam.

The hand is much better, really only my middle and ring fingers still give me trouble. The swelling is gone for the most part.

I did a few lazy vaults on my left side today, the only issue is my right shoulder felt jarred a bit. I'm close to healed. I still plan on being there Saturday, but I'll be taking it easy. Close to healed isn't entirely healed.

ok, taking it easy is a good thing haha, i tend not to take things easy when i get injured, like my heart surgery i had like 4 weeks of no P.E. or any phisical intensive activity, ya tht lasted a week, i was running in P.E. even though the p.e, teacher told me it wasnt a good idea
