Quote
Lay flat on the ground. Bring your hands alongside your body (no more than 2" away from either side) up to where your thumbs are closest in line with your nipples. Press up, arms extending fully, no other body part moves or flexes - in other words torso is perfectly rigid and straight. When you touch down everything will still be in alignment.

------------------------

Resting allowed, or first failure and you're done?

Resting allowed but only with arms fully extended and knees off the ground. (So at the top of your push-up.)

Eh? As far as I'm concerned I don't care how you rest. Shake out your arms, lie on your back whatever. Just make sure you're hitting FULL ROM for EACH rep.

No one interested in this?

I saw a competition about this on a Chinese television a while ago. Some people were doing about 120 a minute and not all of them are in good form, so total count turned out to be about 105.

I tried this too and got 40 at first then got 60 after a few days, but I think my form isn't always proper, so I would need someone to judge.

Edit: O, I don't think I touched floor on them, for some reason, I can do it with less than one inch from the ground, but as soon as I actually touch it, I stop.

You shouldn't try to do multiple experiments to calculate linear vertical acceleration over large distances.

You lack the strength to do them properly as a proper pushup is from the ground.

This is common in things like HSPU, as well, since most people never do them on parallettes.  They will be able to do 5-10 HSPU on the ground but as soon as they need to go full ROM they fail.

Work on getting the strength to do them properly, then fix your form! :)
