Hotspots - 1 hour of your time AT MOST!
« on: June 10, 2008, 10:30:13 AM »
So I want Virginia to have a kickass google hotspots map.

*EDIT*
Check out what I've down so far:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=us&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=108942331205831802212.000451618f4a92615d505

What I would like to request from all of you (myself included) is to go out sometime before this Sunday (deadline is necessary!) and bring a camera. Take between 3-6 shots of your hotspot and write a small review about it. Try to format it like Demon's at Colorado Parkour (ex. here )

My goal is to have a comprehensive guide by the end of the summer that we can offer to any traceur from the world who visits VA. It'll have location reviews and precise location right there on a super easy to use map!!!

Plus we need some stuff to throw up on our Virginia Parkour website soon...  ;)  BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.

Once it's done please email them to me (a .doc or whatever) to leon@americanparkour.com tytytyty~!!

My camera is totally broken. However, Leon, do you have pics from Virginia Western? And I think Brittany and Hai [sp?] have pics from some other spots. You could throw those up for Roanoke.

OOH! The first L-Sit on your Myspace is in front of a gym in New Town, Right? It's not open yet, but there's a picnic table, and a railing with white circles and its got three walls under the railing.

Where's the spot in the picture with seats to the left and your jumping from a taller brick wall to a shorter one with three heights? (That was probably the most confusing thing you've ever read.)

Check it out I posted a link to a map I've started.

Try to format your hotspot write ups like I did.... a few pictures and a short paragraph describing whats there!

THANKS GUYS! I'll be adding everyone's spots to the map once they're up  :)

I just got some more pictures of hotspots.... This time from Charlotesville, VA!

I'll be posting up new hotspots soon.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY PICTURES THEY'VE TAKEN YET?! It literally takes like 1 hour to take the pictures, put them on your computer, and email them to me with a short paragraph describing the spot (whats there, security, fun stuff, etc.) and where it's located!

please please please write this on your hand or something and try to get it done  ;D

biggg thanks guys!

Yeah..  if you hadn't figured out.. I broke tha tpromise I made to you two weeks ago.. >_>..

I'll get on it AFTER I get back from my trip.  I haven't had the opportunity to train there yet, either.  You up for heading out there in like.. two weeks, Leon?  I can meet up with a local Fairfax traceur while I'm at it.

ok so ftw is up with people saying they do parkour/fr? leon asked people to give him info about their hotspots and no one has. what a shocker. i have spent 8+ hours walking around gmu, fairfax city, and highschools to find spots. i have over 10 spots that i have and typed up 7 so far for leon. how can people say they do parkour when they cant even give out the info to the spots they "train" at? where are people "training" at? also i am going to Shenandoah university this weekend to find spots there. leon asked for an hour of time at most. it is taking me so long because i am going out of my way to get the word out to people so they can train more. i am searching hard, but it would help if people just put in that 1 hour he asked for. VA ... we're weak, we have to pick it up.

Yeah knoxfel, that's the spirit, make fun of everyone. Good job.

If you've noticed, not that many people have checked out this thread. I would be out taking pictures, but my camera is MIA. I think instead of taking an insulting approach to trying to get people to help, you should just say "Come on guys, no slacking!!"

Telling people that their wrong about saying they do parkour because they haven't taken pictures of a spot is just seriously uncalled for.

I won't be responding to any retort you have because I'm not going to take up space and attention in this thread for arguing.

I am officially dropping it.

i wasn't saying theyre wrong, im just saying if you train, then you train, not go out just once a month. you should be at your spot a couple times a week or at least a once a week. it has been 2 weeks. thats all im saying. leon would like some support. and chris, we've jammed together at vt. i sprained my ankle before the roanoke jam where vtpk came and you have the vid online, i have respect for you and hope to train with you more. i dont want to get off on a bad foot. im just saying that this hotspot map is no joke. finding spots and sharing spots with other traceurs will help our community grow not only in va but everywhere.
