Between 2100 and 2200
18 years old (born 22 september 1989)
David
St. Louis, Missouri
Zero years practicing parkour (maybe a couple weeks of casual practice before this)
5-12 hours per week, depending on how strictly you define it (only 5 hours actually doing climbing and parkour, more if you count endurance and strength training)
Bicycling, hiking
A playground at a local park
wet and dark (it was night and it had just rained)
I was trying to do an underbar
No others involved
18 inch "strawberry" scrape on left lumbar area of back. Elliptical in shape, about 2 inches at the middle widest point. I also lightly sprained my back and may have gently bruised one of my floating ribs. On a pain scale it was about a 7.5, but quickly receded to a 4 within 60 seconds. After 5 minutes, I was back to doing parkour and the pain was .5. On a severity scale in terms of actual damage to my body, maybe a 1.
I did not see a doctor
I did not get any x-rays or MRIs
Sorry, no picture.
I could have avoided this injury by looking up how to do it properly instead of just assuming it was as easy as it looked on the youtube videos I saw. I now know how much technical skill parkour requires and will not be as reckless.
This was my last injury.
I tried to do an underbar again later in the night with the same result, only a bit worse. I have a matching strawberry right next to the original.
