Training the Traceur: The Creative Mind
by Charles Moreland
The first step in parkour is learning techniques, but what a lot of traceurs have in skill, they lack in creativity.
Hard to learn, and even harder to teach, Charles Moreland examines this necessary attribute of any experienced traceur.
Getting creative in your training not only makes your training more dynamic and effective, but it's a lot more fun too!

RISE: Chapter 5
by Gabriel Arnold
The year is 2028. PKFR is the largest sport/activity in the world, surpassing even the old standards like soccer. Rusty, a 17-year-old boy living in "The City," is a fanatic for PKFR but, after the untimely death of his father (a top Runner himself), he has been forbidden to train. Recently however, a mysterious man known only as Owen saved him from an early demise. Invited to train under Owen and his friend Kirra, Rusty heads out before dawn to meet them and be tested. But with no sleep, the recent betrayal of his best friend, and loss of his high school crush, how will Rusty fair in his hardest test yet?

Welcome to the Freerunner, Issue 12 for August 2009!
This is it! This is the twelfth issue of The Freerunner. A whole year. A lot has happened in a year - we've gone from having a newsletter composed of old content from the vaults of APK to a newsletter jam-packed with new and exciting content. The Freerunner has become the first, and the only, successful parkour online magazine. We're not content being the best online magazine though... We want to be the first, the only, and the best print magazine too. I'd like to take this opportunity to publicly announce that, due to numerous requests from the community, The Freerunner has plans to transition to a quarterly print format. Please read the article included in this issue for more information and to see how YOU can help! I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to The Freerunner and helped this happen, and I'd like to thank the community for reading. Thanks for a great year everyone!
