Welcome to The FreeRunner Issue 08!

One of my favorite parts about being the editor of The Freerunner is having complete strangers contact me with ideas for articles and content. This is the 8th issue, and no one running this project has ever really done anything like it before - but we've all learned a lot so far. In the past 8 issues we've started, and ended, a lot of different ideas for regular content. Sometimes the author's real life gets in the way, sometimes they just run out of material to write about. We're always looking for new ideas though, and we really enjoy using reader created content - that means stuff by you! If you have any article, either one-time or "column style" ideas, feel free to email zac@americanparkour.com.

From the Vaults: Benefits of Breathing

Breathing is an essential part of life. But it plays an especially important role in your training. A properly timed breath can be the difference between success and failure. Awhile back on the forums we had a discussion about breathing techniques and many members brought in their experiences from differnet sports and disciplines. We've compiled them into a short article that will give you a place to start learning different breathing techniques to assist you on your training. Check out the article here.

Practical Parkour Contest

American Parkour is in the middle of hosting a "Practical Parkour" video contest! Contestants submitted a 20 second video to American Parkour featuring them and their friends engaging in a "practical application" of parkour. Now that all entries have been submitted, they've gone up on the APK Youtube channel. The one with the highest number of views at the end of two weeks wins! First prize is easily over $150 of APK merch, and there's a sweet second and third prize too! You can see all the details here.

This month's Picture of the Month is Graham jumping over Chris!

The "Video of the Month" this month is the Worldwide Traceuse Project 2009 - Girls Training Parkour Around the World. Very impressive compilation!

Parkour Games
by Henry Collie

Henry Collie brings us a new Parkour game called QM Stuck in the Mud. This is a cool variation of tag that Henry came up with. It's a lot of fun, and definitely physically demanding! This would be a great game to play as a warmup, or with a group of children. Check out these Parkour Games!
