Training Alone
by Chris Kessler

A lot of traceurs are from urban areas, but the representation of Parkour in rural areas is on the rise. Chris Kessler is beginning a column specifically to aid these traceurs. He will be discussing methods and tactics to prevent yourself from getting discouraged and motivate yourself.

Traceur Interview #1
Charles Moreland & Jakeob Vigil

Jakeob Vigil is starting an "Everyday Traceur" interview series. High profile traceurs get interviewed all the time... but often the average person doesn't get much of a chance to voice their opinions. Here's a great chance for you to get out there! The first issue is with Charles Moreland, one of the "Big Three" of the General Fitness forum.

Blane's Traceur FAQ

Blane has recently published a list of his Frequently Asked Questions (and answers!). Blane discusses his views on his past, his training, and his vision of Parkour. It's a great read and has lots of great insights for beginners and experience traceurs alike. Check them out here!

"Fear in Parkour" - Video Article

Welcome to The FreeRunner Issue 06!

This issue of The Freerunner marks a change in direction. Previously, The Freerunner consisted of a very, very small staff deciding on what we wanted in the issue, then collecting relevant content. This was a good way to begin, it taught us a lot about running a newsletter and let us figure a lot of back-end organizational things out. This wasn't a good way to run the newsletter long-term, though. We were publishing issues faster than content was coming out, and there really wasn't much of an incentive to read the newsletter if it was all old content. A few months ago we sent out a request for volunteers, and now these volunteers will be producing regular, original content for the newsletter! If anyone else wishes to volunteer, either for a single article or regular content, feel free to email me at zac@americanparkour.com and we'll see what we can work out. In the mean time... enjoy the new issue of The Freerunner!

How To Support Your Traceur Child:
A Parent's Guide to Parkour

Parkour really does appeal to everyone of all ages. College students and adults have the freedom to jump right into it, but for our younger tracuers still in Middle or High School have to find a way to convince their parents to "see the light." Muse_of_Fire has written up a "Parent's Guide to Parkour." This is a great guide to show to parents that might be concerned about what their child is doing!

Fear In Parkour - APK Video Article Series #1

American Parkour has one of the largest databases of Parkour articles on the Internet. The APK Alliance has decided to convert a select few of these into video articles to release on APK, as well as popular video services such as Youtube, Vimeo, and more. We're hoping we can reach a wider audience with these videos, so help us out and link them around!

The first release is from Travis Noble, covering the article "Fear In Parkour: A Practical Guide."

Featured Pic

This month's Picture of the Month is actually the winner of the 2008 Picture of the Year contest! Congratulations Andy with the "Sunset Precision" picture.

The "Video of the Month" this month is by Ann Kaczka, a traceuse from New Jersey. This is a documentary she made about her first year of training, and she discusses a lot of her views about women and parkour as well. It's a very inspiration piece, and a good one for everyone to watch.

Training for Tracueses
by Janine

Janine Cundy, a representative of PNWPA and a local to the Seattle parkour scene ,wrote a great article on conditioning for traceuses. This is a great resource, especially for girls just starting out with little knowledge of fitness. It talks about mistakes Janine made, and ways you can avoid them!
