The L-Pull Up is a killer full-body exercise that tests your core strength and stability as well as your mental toughness.

1.)Grasp a pull-up bar with palms facing away from you (pronated). With straight arms and legs, lift your legs until they are extended straight out in front of you in an L position.

2.)Perform a pull-up, maintaining the L position. If your legs drop, you will still get tremendous benefit out of this movement.

3.)If maintaining even an approximation of an L position is clearly impossible for you, a spotter can assist by holding your feet up, or you can bend your legs and hold your thighs up, parallel to the ground.

I think I need to put more effort into learning how to do pull-ups with my palms facing away from me. Then I'll definately have to advance to this technique. ;)

My favorite part is that all you need to do it is a decent play ground...heck yes!

Its even hard for me to keep my legs up at a 90.

18. 04-18-2008 09:11

Very good exercise, but I start to drop my legs after about 4 or 5 of them. :)

19. 05-07-2008 07:46

I can't do these yet, so I've just been substituting with normal pull-ups and just doing the L shape while hanging. I figure if I can get both halves of the excersize first, then I'll try the full thing.

20. 05-17-2008 07:29

If ur having trouble keeping ur legs at 90 degrees try to cross them
it will help you hold ur legs up but it wont ruin the excercise

21. 07-12-2008 11:15

dude this looks hard but am goi to try themany way sooo :grin :) ;) :p 8) :roll :eek :upset :zzz :sigh :? :cry :( :x

22. 08-06-2008 12:29

im going to try this, i go the gym, but the weird thing is they don't have a pull up bar. they have about every machine possible, but no pull up bar. cant believe i hav to go the playground to work out. :? :(

23. 08-07-2008 06:44

Really easy solution if u cant keep ur legs at a 90. Just bend at the knees until u can hold ur thighs at a 90 and gradually progress. Inability to maintain a 90 is due to lack of ab strength so train those HARDER!!!!

24. 09-14-2008 08:52

this is rediculously hard :x
I can do 15 regular, but I can barely lift my body when I' doing this one.
why is is SO much harder?

25. 09-20-2008 21:05

I cant read what it say cause of that stupid menu in the way (overlapping) the wrighting...

26. 09-24-2008 15:42

Lol ive been doin this but didnt know the name for it. Oh yeah about that playground part, i live right across the street from an elementary school (very elaborate playground, i go up there to practice / workout alot)

27. 10-06-2008 12:58

28. 10-14-2008 23:06

:cry

29. 12-14-2008 12:57

dude!nice :p i like it...i put in max from my abs and lower back.arms are not used to max out the exerscise :zzz

30. 01-20-2009 14:49

its way tougher than it looks.... :(

31. 03-01-2009 08:05

This exercise is great. I've been doing it for a while and I can finally get 6. If ur having trouble, i recemend that u cross ur legs. It helps u keep ur legs up a little easier while ur still getting use to it. Great exercise tho.

32. 05-16-2009 07:02

fun

33. 05-17-2009 12:50

ya this sucks but its fun kinda u have to keep it like that for 10 to 20 seconds (the way i learned) witch kills like a bitch
