APK Warmup

Workout- Strength skills work: The Planche

For 20:00, work the skills that preclude the planche. These would include Handstand holds to slow-lowering (whether against the wall or free-standing), the appropriate Planche Progressions , Pseudo-Planche pushups (pushups with your hands down near or at the level of your hips, hands facing to the side or towards the back) and the handstand press .

Try to use your time wisely to give the most total skill work for the session. Post skills used and time/reps for each to comments. Compare to 7-5-06

Skip, think of consciously pressing the bars away from you through the entire movement, especially once you get your hips up, really press your shoulders out, thus putting them up near your ears when you're inverted.

Another thing that helps is to work the hollow-rock, which helps get that ab-contraction which will put your hips over your shoulders!

Found a nice close playground / park with some rockin' trees and such! On my way to getting tuck planche to handstand!

Did I mention how gorgeous the weather was out today? Might go for a run with Kelly later :]

I'm also addicted to handstand lowering.

I did some freestanding handstand lowering on paralette's, straddled legs but with a straight body.

Also did handstand lowering to a frogstand or tuck planche on the ground.

Pseudo planche pushups, both on the ground with hands facing backwards and on parallete's with raised feet.

Also did some handstand presses, against the wall and free standing.

Fun times.

Hey skip.

Just a little tip for the handstand to elbow lever. One thing I make sure and do is put put my head and shoulders pretty far past my hands.

Now, I don't know if you just haven't quite developed that muscle memory, or you just lose you balance. But if it's the latter, keeping your shoulders and head past your hands is key. :P
