Fitness

What exactly is fitness? It can be defined in many ways, and is usually associated with a certain task, i.e suitability, "this bolt if fit to hold these two things together", "this person has the skills needed to operate this computer" (haha). But for human beings, fitness can be considered as a measure of "Health and wellbeing" or "physical strength", or many other things according to who you ask.

Jesse woody is heavily involved in a group that has a new paradigm for fitness, CrossFit. Their simple, yet revolutionary, fitness training methods are so effective that they have been picked up by military, police, martial artists, and many groups of elite athletes as part of their training regimes. CrossFit has attracted some of the top sports science and nutritionalists of our time, and is truly a no-bullshit organization. If something doesn't work, it's not part of CrossFit.

Jesse is out in California today, helping to train people in Parkour, as Parkour has an interesting tie to fitness: Not only does Parkour build fitness, it requires fitness, and it is almost certainly the ultimate embodiment of all-around human fitness. Parkour requires and benefits from strength, agility, balance, speed, finess, sensitivity, all in a 100% practical manner. therefore, it's a great fit for CrossFit and their community.

If you MUST spend time on the internet this weekend, we suggest checking out CrossFit.com, a tremendous resource for information. Did you know that Jesse is now a regular columnist and writes an article each month for the CrossFit Journal?

Everyone here at APK is tremendously proud of Jesse and the work he does outside the Parkour community to help educate people about and through Parkour training.

Yeah Jesse! Hope you had / are having an awesome time!

I had an incredible weekend out in the country with my girlfriend, sorting out some stuff with the apartment we'll soon be moving into. It was brutally hot outside most of the days, one of which included a 40+ minute run, which is INSANE for me, especially out in that heat. I really pushed myself to finish and try to keep up with Kelly :] I did friday's workout [I think?], the one with the alternating 10 pushups - 1 pullup, sets. Didn't grab my time though. And a lot of time spent outdoors in general including a trip up to Catoctin and some hiking / fun rock climbing around there.

Hope everyone had a sweet weekend, too!
