Does anyone know if Reeboks run large for their sizes? I know it varies from company to company.
I may be able to squeeze a nine, I'm not too far off

I only just recently started doing parkour again (i.e., today), so I feel as though I can't honestly say I practice six hours a week...However, I do wear size nine running shoes. *grins*

Wow, my size. I don't practice enough though. That in itself is sad enough. I hope Rebok has some decent enough shoes for this out right now as I'm going to buy a pair of them tomorrow.

Ug. Sad day.

I love how in-depth discussions on the front page get NO COMMENTS, but when a free pair of shoes is involved...EVEN WHEN THEIR LIMITED SIZE FITS ONLY TWO PEOPLE THROUGH THE ENTIRE THREAD.... The post gets 16 comments in a day....ugh.

19. 06-10-2006 07:33

I really needed to know what size feet EVERYONE ELSE has :/

More comments on this than in interview with David Belle, or a training regiment, or a chance to train with Seb.

people are just excited. you have to admit this is a major leap for the parkour community as a whole. And people want to be a part of that. Though i cant understand why they give their shoe sizes, maybe they're just trying to give Reebok a better idea of what their deomgraphic for this shoe should be.
eufouria

21. 06-10-2006 09:42

you kno gearsighted and M2 are right. David and Seb are the coolest people in the world of parkour, no commented on the david belle interview accept for me (i think i did) and like two other people. And i missed the chance to train w/ seb, but if i hadn't, i woulda commented like a b!*&#. And M2, wth did the "one rail..." comment mean? "you'll know the sound of one hand clapping?" juss not gettin it

22. 06-10-2006 09:43

eufouria has a good point too
zealous_parkour

23. 06-10-2006 10:25

is there some picture out there of what these shoes will look like?

also, i think the reason more people are interested in this than in training with sebastien and stuff is that this is something people actually feel they can be a part of.

24. 06-10-2006 12:42

I.... I have size nine feet! Oh my goodness, I need to up my regiment!

25. 06-10-2006 13:06

Pretty sure pic of ths shoes was on urbanfreeflow thats where i heard bout the shoes and i had a insta-pop im like i gotta have those but yea i have a minor foot problem so i'll just have to wait untill they go public but nueh its worth the wait
mrghettotarzan

26. 06-10-2006 15:45

Sorry, but corporations realizing they have an art to exploit isn't exactly a "huge leap" for the Parkour community. If handled correctly it could turn out decently, but otherwise, it's to be expected.

27. 06-10-2006 16:58

I wear a size 9, I'd love to jump into this test.

28. 06-10-2006 17:37

Size 9 is the industry standard for shoe testing sizes. Reebok knows their demographics, along with all the other shoe companies out there who use the same guidelines.

29. 06-10-2006 21:53

i think I know the major reason behind the rise in comments. Most people are young (I am still a minor) and don't have the ability to travel to obscure parts of the nation to train with someone. Wherever we live, we have about a 50 mile radius to "do things" . I can;t even go train and Jam with the traceurs in UCF ( Orlando area) because I live an hour away. This type of thing is a way that some people (myself included) feel like they can actually give to the parkour community. And euforia was right. We are just trying to give a gauge of people's reactions and placements in this ... whatever. Anyway, a great majority of people with size nine shoes are either very very young, or sitting in front of there mother and father's computer, in their basement, switching back and forth between the most recent computer game and the pr0n they have stored on their comp. So I'fd really appreciate it if all of those people who think they know everything about everything would hold their tongues and just appreciate that people are even here on this site, regardless of what they comment on.

If you make it to this site, it's our job to try and guide you in the right direction. The idea that you are "getting involved" by posting that your shoes aren't the right size, all while there are other conversations that involve establishing a deeper understanding of the art isn't exactly what we have in mind.

Yes, there are lots of young kids, does this mean that we should allow everybody to act like morons? Nope.
gearsighted

31. 06-11-2006 21:08

We're not here strictly to socialize and let people know what size ourt feet are. Yeah, talk about Parkour, tell us what you did, what you're learning, what yo'd like to do, but "my feet are 14" really doesn't add anything to this place.
m2.

32. 06-11-2006 21:24

if a shoe-testing announcement is posted up, and it requires a certain size, you can expect people whose feet don't meet those parameters to say so. You can't expect much deep philosophical discussion to come out of this type of announcement, except maybe upon the effects of the interplay between our art and the market. Even then, it's only exploitation in the sense that reebok apparently knows that traceurs kick the s**t out of their shoes.

when things about david belle or foucan are posted, people pretty much just read them as education, and it usually doesn't affect us that personally. usually all the philosophical discussion has already been said in the article, and all people can really do is say. "yea, db is a chill fellow."

Bottom line, don't expect great contribution out of a shoe-testing announcement.
Steez

thirty two (now thirty three) comments on a pair of shoes, i love america. and MGT, that hole insta-pop thing... over a pair of shoes? that's like insest, only not as gross.

34. 06-12-2006 08:53

i guess i'll try, and see if they fit, diff. shoe cmpnys have diff. shoes sizes.

35. 06-12-2006 10:21

36. 06-12-2006 13:26

Ok, here is my point. I go outside and train like... 5-ish days a week. When i come to APK I'm here really only for the socializing. Also for the occasional video (I like to see other peoples progress and compare it to my own since my town has two traceurs...) I am not trying to degrade the quality of the site or anything liek that, just trying to get people off of other's backs. If people are going to come here only, and not actually go out and parkour, there is a very slim chance you are going to convince them otherwise.

I hardly ever see any posts regarding a deeper understanding of the mentality of parkour, all I see are the same old tired statements over and over again. people aren't going to understand parkour by reading it, people will only gain insight through experienc3eing it. The exhilarating feeling of dashing through obstacles playing tag with a friend. All of these things escape those who "lurk" on the forums. I wish more people would just go outside and practice, and if those who do practice choose to post their shoe size... so be it.
