"Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired."
--Jules Renard--

APK Warmup

Workout: 10 rounds of the following for time:

Jump Rope - 100 revolutions (single-under style)

10 burpees

10 pushups

10 squats

Post time to comments. Anybody who read the Ross Enamait jump-rope article over the weekend will notice this one...thought it looked devilishly good :p Enjoy!

Appropriate Substitutions:

Jump Rope- Jumping Jacks...or you know...just buy a damn rope!

Burpees- If Burpees are too strenuous, either break them up into moe manageable sets, or try regular squat thrusts, which can be the same movement minus the pushup, the jump, or both, depending on your skill level.

Pushups- Slow eccentric lowering in full pushup position, Knee pushups, Pushups with your hands and upper body on a raised platform.

Squats- Wall squats or squats to a chair to get the feel of the motion. I think that everybody should build up to fully functioning squats ASAP.

Gear, it's not related to this workout but if you say 2 russian twists, do you mean 12 to the right and 12 to the left or 6 to the right and 6 to the left? Or is that a stupid question :P

I usually will indicate "each side" if I want 12 each. If I just want 12 altogether, then I won't say anything, and will just say 12 russian twists...at least that's the standard I've tried to follow so far :p

I didn't have time to finish the whole workout this morning, so I did 2 rounds, then finished up the rest here and there through out the day.
But the big news is I did my first unassisted pull up saturday evening!!!!!! It's kinda this half kip half pull with all my might sort of thing, but my chin is making it over the bar sooooo woot woot!!!!! :grin :grin I've done a total of 5 so far! :p

OK, so here's how this went:

Got 3 rounds pretty-much as Rx'd, though I subbed a kinda one and a half armed pushup with the burpees. Regular pushups were ultra-slow due to babying my shoulder. 4th and 5th rounds were knee pushups, then after that I was fatigued enough that I subbed front-planks to save any injury. At that time I also began to sub the one-ish arm sprawl burpee without a pushup. No need to rush my recovery and get hurt.

Total time 26:00

Earlier today I did 5x5 deadlifts with 235, followed by pushups, bent-over rows, situps, back extensions, curls (lol, but they're OK'd by the doc, so they're in for a bit), tricep extensions (lol again, same reason) and leg press 300lb x 20.

All-around, a pretty good day, and I'm feeling good, taking it relatively easy on the repaired shoulder, which feels great so far :D

went for a sweet run of about 2 1/2 miles with Gret, did lots of PK on the way, real good fast fluid stuff :)
Did a few rounds of this (3) along the way interspersed. Did some stretching after, really need to work on flexibility.

I did notice that it looked oddly familiar as I had just read the article the day before.

I finally got to this workout yesterday (Wednesday) and I did it about an hour after I did Tuesdays workout. That wasn't a good idea :x

It to me 29 minutes just to get through 6 rounds after which I called it quits from exhaustion. I'm sure I could get the full 10 rounds in about 30-35 minutes if I was using a rope and a bit fresher. The burpees killed me. Maybe I should have subbed regular squat thrusts ;)
