Why is there a news story about this? Simple- I believe that trust is built on communication. APK is a community, and communities are built on trust.
Today marks the date when our first actual "Ad" goes into place. It is one of about 20 rotating banners, most of which link to APK forums or local communities. This one is an ad for hosting at Siteground. While web hosting has nothing to do with Parkour (indeed web hosting may be one of Parkour's downfalls :) ), Siteground really pulled through for us when we got slammed with traffic on only our second day of hosting with them. Read on ...
I personally feel they have a great product at a great price. Nobody is obliged to click on an ad banner, you can ignore it, you can click it and read it, you can click it and decide whether it is a product or service you need or want and should buy. This isn't even commissioned by Siteground, it's an affiliate program, so we get a couple of bucks if you start a new hosting account with them. That couple of bucks will be used to run this site, pay for T-shirts, and do other things surrounding APK which cost money. To date, APK is not profitable, and unfortunately that's a condition that can only last so long. Things like the T-shirts and DVD sales help, but unless everyone bought one a month it wouldn't pay the bills.
We hope you continue to find the value in the 99% of this site that's not commercially aimed in any way, but continues to do its best to be of value and significance to the American Parkour community.

That's exactly the point. You get hosting, we get a couple of bucks to go towards running the site. Doesn't exactly make ends meet, but it takes the sting out a bit
