What, another rest day!? WOD 3-10-06 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 09 March 2006

Damn straight it is. The next couple of days are going to be an extended rest, ramping up to the upcoming week of benchmark workouts to test our fitness across a wide range of skills and capabilities.

But that's not all. This will only be week one of a 3 month plan to get us all in tip-top shape for the upcoming jam season. Read on for more info.

Though we should all keep up our Parkour through the winter months, the big time for training is the spring, summer and fall season. This year is jam packed (pun intended) with high-profile sessions popping up everywhere.

With large jams in Michigan, Kerrville Texas, DC/MD, and New York there are tons of opportunities to hook up with some large groups of motivating people. To top it off, this gives us an awesome goal for fitness. I personally want to enter this summer in better shape than ever. The chance to meet so many other people who want to push the boundaries of their movement is a huge motivator!

So, starting on Monday, March 13th, we'll be starting our countdown to Jam Season workout, beginning with 5 days of fitness testing. I'll incorporate both some Crossfit classic benchmarks along with a few tests of my own. This will give us a base to work from, and something to look back on at the end of the coming months to gauge our advancement.

Another change will be a shift to a 5 day on, 2 day off workout schedule. With some variance during the week, we can keep up the relative intensity while leaving the weekends open for some serious Parkour skills training. I feel this will emulate the majority of the participants schedules a bit better.

So, over the next 3 days, I will be posting various links, sources and articles pertaining to my plan for this build-up. In the meantime, stretch, rest and get ready to crank up the intensity. Your homework assignment for today: "What Is Fitness?" - Read and discuss.

Sounds very good, but I will take my rest days on wednesday and thursday instead, so I'll do monday's workout on friday etc.
I won't be able to post my results on the workout's days, but I'll post my expectations :)
Will the ratio of the different aspects of fitness remain the same?

Sounds very good. A question though, will there be much lower body plyometrics included? Just wondering because I've got to avoid impact on my knee for a while.

I think so cause lower body plyometrics are one of the top priorities in parkour..
