If everybody here isn't already aware of my complete awe of Crossfit, both as a method of fitness and a community of legitimite practitioners, then you haven't been paying attention. The workouts I post here are a bodyweight-only assimilation of Crossfit protocol, and I suggest their diet, recovery and fitness information to anybody who cares to ask.
So on that level, you might understand my excitement when I was asked not only to give a presentation to the 150 trainers and trainees at the recent Crossfit certification seminar, but also to contribute information about Parkour to their monthly e-zine, the Crossfit Journal.
Read on ...
The Crossfit Journal is a monthly e-zine published by Greg and Lauren Glassman, pertaining to every aspect of the Crossfit community. Previous contributors have included world-class triathalon trainers, Olympic Weightlifting coaches, military personel and others amongst the Crossfit elite. The small amount they ask for this indespensible resource borders on ridiculous, as the journal has covered every aspect of fitness available. This month's issue includes training in austere locations, Parallette progressions, The Slow Lifts by Mark Rippetoe, Sprint training and of course, Parkour.
The most exciting aspect of our involvement with the Crossfit community is their understanding of the value of functional movement for its own sake. The opportunity to spread the art of Parkour to so many varied and motivated individuals is a huge honor. I hope to see a lot more involvement between both the Parkour and Crossfit communities as time goes on.
Many thanks to both Greg and Lauren, along with Brian Mulvaney, Lynne Pitts, Tony Budding, Annie Sakamoto and the rest of the Crossfit crew, and to Emmie, who has been indespinsible with her proof-reading skills.
