This spin on the standard protein shake picks up where plain whey leaves off and finishes the combination with healthy fats and low-glycemic index carbohydrates for long-lasting energy.

Ingredients:

1c skim milk

1 scoop whey protein powder

1 1/2 c frozen berries (blueberries, strawberries, rasberries)

1/2 c dry slow-cook oatmeal (uncooked)

2 tbsp natural peanut butter (no added trans-fats or sugars)

2 tsp olive oil

Instructions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend. Add water to reach the desired consistency. This makes a great, quick breakfast as well as a good snack an hour or so before a workout.

16. 05-08-2008 01:21

Find it at a health store, grocery store or maybe even a drug store.

17. 05-10-2008 12:57

For everyone who looks at this and thinkx :x, it actually tastes really good. It took me two times to get used to the texture, but after that I drink it at least twice a week-- it's soooo goood!!

22. 10-13-2008 19:34

can someone describe the taste? it sounds kinda iffy if there is berry-flavored peanut butter-oatmeal with milk.

23. 11-29-2008 19:50

wow, i will have to try it. :grin :zzz :p

24. 12-03-2008 18:18

is it ok to replace milk with rice/soy milk and whey protein with soy protein? i have bad dairy allergies :(
this meaning - will it have the same effects as the normal recipe?

25. 12-11-2008 20:12

Looks Good! I might replace the skim milk with soy milk tho
:zzz

26. 01-04-2009 15:49

28. 03-06-2009 16:10

I want to try this, but where do I get the whey powder? Can I add some honey? Would that imporve the texture, improve nutritionlal value, or kill it? Do other oatmeal types work?

29. 03-22-2009 03:02

OMG, it sounds a little gross, but i am the kind of person who will try anyhting. IT IS SOOOO good!!!!!

30. 03-24-2009 15:11

37. 07-20-2009 08:10

HOLD ON! :D Actually, this is pretty much just like the stuff I just got into! If anybody thought this was good, look into buying a book called "The Abs Diet". This book has all sorts of recipes for different types of shakes. It's got good exercises too.

38. 09-23-2009 14:48

This protein shake is very similar to a smoothie i used to get at a smoothie hut in St. Augustine called the Purple Haze except in the purple haze there was no whey protein, oatmeal, and they added a little honey to sweeten it, and it is awesome cant wait to try this out!

39. 10-14-2009 15:11

:) :zzz 8) sounds awesome ill try it as soon as i get all my ingeridents

40. 10-29-2009 20:08

Made it today with 1% milk tastes awesome I love it

41. 11-04-2009 11:41

Sounds like it would taste kind of like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich minus a bit of flavor. I need to find some whey protein and I think I may add a little honey.

42. 11-09-2009 03:53

I've Been drinking these for a number of years now. Mix in a little orange juice, blueberries, 1/2 banana, and 4 strawberries. its even better.
