Roulade is French for roll. In Parkour, this term is for the roll done after a landing to minimize impact on the joints. Rolls can also be used for other purposes, for instance in diving through a railing where it is no possible to land back on your feet, or to get across an area such as a high table where rolling is a suitable choice.

How does it differ from a somersault? The avitar in the model seems to jeopardize his back; rolling head on could cause your spine to painfully meet unlevel terrain or take too much pressure.

yeah you kind of angle across your back from your leading shoulder to your trailing hip.

you would pronounce it "roo lawd" (i speak french...) i would guess the difference is because you only roll on one shoulder... a sommersault is full on rolling forward!
