By practicing vaults at a handicap ramp, you can constantly challenge
yourself to master every vault variation at an increasingly difficult
obstacle height. Through practice and repetition, handicap ramps can be
a great progression tool that will unlock opportunities for movement
all around you.
Application
Once again, this drill utilizes gradualism, that paramount idea of safely and effectively training for parkour. By starting out small and gradually increasing the difficulty, you can improve every vault variation imaginable by practicing on handicap ramps. Once you become proficient at the handicap ramp, other obstacles around you, once too high and too difficult to build up to, are now easily overcome.
Obstacle and Equipment Checklist: Handicap ramps with gradually higher rails or walls.
Preparation of Drill
Go to a local handicap ramp with gradually higher rails or walls.
Execution of Drill
Warm up and get comfortable vaulting the ramp’s wall or railing at the lowest height.
With practice and repetition, slowly work you way along the ramp, practicing vaulting the obstacle at a greater height.
Other Notes
This is a simple drill and simply put, it is all about practice, repetition, and gradualism.
Practice different takeoff and landing techniques, spinning both ways, using both sides, and more. The goal is to be completely ambidextrous and capable of any slight movement variation.
When vaulting a high obstacle, there are two important factors that must cooperate for maximum output. The jump and the arm push and/or pull. Think about it. If you coordinate your jump and your arm push and/or pull together, you will go significantly higher than if those key movements were working independently.

Hi, I was wondering how to get rid of the fear of breaking my nose on a kong, or worrying that my feet will clip the object and I'll go toppling. PM me plz~ Fish.

to fishburn: what i do is with something a bit higher than your weist. it helps if you know the monkey vault pretty well, when you jump, put your hands at the edge of the obstacle and work on height and distance and just putting your feet on the obstacle. then just inch your way further and further and you should hav it in no time.
