Rolling is done after a landing to minimize impact on the joints and to redirect momentum. Rolls can also be used for other purposes, for instance in diving through a railing where it is no possible to land back on your feet, or to get across an area such as a high table where rolling is a suitable choice. Roulade is French for roll.

Skynative, idk how hard it is to do this, but i think it would be helpful and just plain cool if the animations could be fast forwarded, paused, rewound, etc.

any help on a diving roll, where you don't land on your feet first????? does it just require a super perfect roll?

Land on your SHOULDERS people! Or you can mess up your back so bad, that you could never do parkour or freerunning at the same level/period. Its that important.

The animation for this tumble roll is incorrect, do not follow it. The animation shows the character land, bend his knees down to absorb impact, then PUSH up with his knees into the tumble. This is the exact opposite of what you want to do, it puts 2x more stress on his knees because he has to push upwards against all that downwards force!
The right thing to do is to fall INTO the roll. The purpose of it being is that you are falling diagonally- so half the force is going forward and half the force is downward. By falling into a roll, you continue the forward motion, reducing the force by 1/2
