APK is creating a nonprofit arm of operations led by Tribe member Tyson Cecka to house our charitable and outreach activities. What started in Washington as the PNWPA thanks to Tyson and many others will now be gaining national reach thanks to APK. We NEED your donations to make this a reality, it won't happen without you! We need to raise $4,000 which will go entirely towards non-profit projects, and we need to do it quickly to have the support of one of the leading Non-profit organizations, Global Giving. Please use this button to donate now and help us spread parkour to kids in need, we have less than two weeks to reach our goal! Read more to find out more about our specific projects and goals and the orgainzations that we'll begin our outreach efforts through.
Tyson has been doing some awesome work with the nonprofit Pacific NW Parkour Association, started to teach and promote parkour locally a few years ago. They've grown quite a bit, changed their name to Parkour Visions, and have been given the chance to bring their program to young people who wouldn't normally find parkour or be able to afford classes for it.
I'm really excited about the work that they are doing and hope APK's support can one day grow them nationally, make them a huge part of APK, and run all of our charitable activites through them!
They've partnered with three public organizations to reach a target of 500 of these low-income and homeless kids to "improve their self-esteem and fitness by learning to run, jump, climb, crawl, and vault over obstacles, transforming their everyday world into an epic playscape." Their partners include: - A public after school program in Tacoma where 70% of the kids are on reduced or free lunch.
- Four of the lowest-income apartment complexes in King County through New Futures.
- The first of several Teen Crisis Centers in the Seattle area.
But we need your help! Parkour Visions needs to raise $4000 through 50 or more unique donors by the end of June to reach the tipping point for these three projects and guarantee a permanent spot on GlobalGiving.org, the most prestigious non-profit fundraising website on the web. Even a $10 donation can make a difference here! Everyone here at APK thanks you for your support.

Message from Tyson Cecka, Parkour Visions Executive Director:
This is huge! I feel like we're still testing the waters for a lot of this type of work in the US, but with the backing of the APK community there is nothing we can't conceivably accomplish here.
I feel like I can speak for the APK community when I say we all want parkour available to everyone to learn no matter what environment they're coming from. Programs like this are how we're going to get to that point and will serve a huge role in having parkour recognized as a legitimate, useful activity, that is more than just kids jumping off of buildings imitating spiderman and goofing around ;)
