Case Dismissed! Print E-mail
Thursday, 11 June 2009

This past Thurday, Telemundo aired their most recent episode of Caso Cerrado. The show focuses on simulated court cases that present and touch on social issues.

This episode was designed to bring into light the discipline of parkour. The shows directors created a simulated court case in which a single mother is suing the parents of her son’s friend for letting the boys run about trying “pakour”. As a result one of the boys “injured” his leg and his mother is thus suing the other boy’s parents for letting the boys go out and practice what she considers “stunts”.

Case Closed

To defend Parkour and Freerunning, the Judge brought in the Miami Freerunning team as professionals to discuss and shed light on what these disciplines are.

In the end the judge closed the case and the verdict was that these are legitimate disciplines and physical activities that are beneficial to the youth. While precautions are necessary for anyone practicing, these are not just young men and women out performing stunts and daredevil activities.

(It should be known that the young traceurs featured in the piece, are members of the Hialeah Freerun team and none were actually hurt prior to the filming). It’s just good TV.

I think the mother of the injured boy doesn't not know really what she is doing. Anyone can be hurt playing beisball, practicing track and field or any other activity. I think if she loves her son she has to understand what he wants and respect that, because it is good for him, she should learn about the activity and know that injuries can happen but also that it is a very safe activity.
We as mother's don't want our children to get hurt in any way, but physical activity it's great for them and parkour is wonderful for everyone.

Well, there are a lot of stupid people out there unwilling to learn more about things. They say no and it's final, even if they have no knowledge of the subject.
Ahhhhh, I love america (just saying, it seems to happen here a lot more than it does in other places).

I'm glad the case turned out well. It's just lame to sue someone for decisive actions taken by an individual that ends in disaster.

Don't forget the old lady that sued McD's for the coffee that added a bit of fire to her... ahem... otherwise cold extremities. And it happened in a car!

America - the country that keeps screwing up, yet you can't stop lovin' it. LOL
