yeah...no black people do parkour. Tell Sebastien that.

2. 02-14-2009 10:38

how ignorant of that woman to say "thats a white people thing, black people have no interest in that".
well, ms racist, PK was partially created by a BLACK MAN (seb foucan) and my two best friends are black and we train together 6 days a week.

and to say its not a sport, while espn televises things like bowling, golf, and even poker tournaments makes me laff. this woman should be ashamed of her ignorance.

aside from her presence (which irked the hell outta me and you too im sure) it was a pretty good piece.

3. 02-14-2009 10:53

despite the ignorance of the reporter, this was a great bit of publicity for parkour--though i do wish a distinction could have been made between parkour and freerunning.

nice job ryan!

4. 02-14-2009 10:57

I really enjoyed that whole piece! I just could not stand the ignorance of the report either... it was a bit much to me.

5. 02-14-2009 10:58

yeah that lady was pretty ignorant but i'm glad at the end she backed it up for not being a sport but a discipline

6. 02-14-2009 11:02

That reporter is a great reminder that sometimes people won't listen to what you have to say. It is unfortunate, but true.

Sometimes you have to accept that someone is an obstacle you cannot pass, and you must find another way.

7. 02-14-2009 11:12

that reporter absolutely mad me crazy when she said its not a sport! tehy show POKER on that channel, thats just laziness and stupidity, betting millions on the outcome of cards! and she says parkour isnt a sport! what nerve! oh well, opinions are hard to change, im over it.

That Ryan kid, wow, thats pretty cool, i hope i can get that good someday(im horrible)

8. 02-14-2009 12:19

the reporter was hilarious. idk, i like the irony that a black man co-founded it, i see the irony as more humorous then ignorant. and classification as a sport or a discipline doesn't matter. to me its a philosophy and to some its a sport, others a discipline. to each his(her) own.

9. 02-14-2009 12:46

We do have Parkour classes, even up here. Amazing trip, envious of him in a good way. He did an good job talking about parkour.

Nice job Ryan

10. 02-14-2009 13:34

Great video.

But the reporter pissed me off, and the pronunciation of every single french term was wrong. Otherwise, it was pretty cool.

11. 02-14-2009 16:35

Dudes, the point was that she started off cynical about it and by the time it was over her opinion of it had changed.

12. 02-15-2009 06:57

Ha, Yeah I agree with all you guys about the reporter, her ignorance. Ha I laughed alot at her first comment during the beginning of the show.

Good job Ryan. Nice job with its explanation.

13. 02-15-2009 07:35

hey gren the wicked... u mustve missed the point because in no way shape or form did she change her opinion after the piece. she stated she still didnt consider it a sport, and didnt think kids should do it. the only thing she acknowledged was ryans passion for his craft. her opinion of it DID NOT CHANGE.

14. 02-15-2009 13:15

ACKSHUN. You know it's not a sport. I know it's not a sport.

And when she said it's not a sport, she said "It's a discipline." and she was very serious when she said so.

15. 02-15-2009 13:28

ACKSHUN. You know it's not a sport. I know it's not a sport.

Oh Wow. First things First.
Reporter pissed me off. for reasons already stated. Its sad, there are people who are so stubborn, that even if you stick pure evidence in their face, they simply disregard it, and keep their negative opinion.

Kudos to the Ryan guy for teaching other. ;)

17. 02-15-2009 19:37

ok, aside from the "sport" tag, which i disagree with you on btw Gren, but thats a different debate for another time.

the point is (like ghost said)that she wanted to disregard it before and after evidence was put in her face. she jsut wanted no part of it, and made a stupid (racist) assumption that it was a "white people" sport.

no offense to ryan (who did a great job) but they should have had her dumb ass interview a black traceur to show her how wrong she was.

instead we both know she still thought "thats stupid white people stuff" at the end of the interview.

18. 02-15-2009 20:15

For one thing she talked about the chase in Casino Royale (Foucan) so by the end i wish she'd retracted her racist remark...she didn't of course.
Second, she WAS right parkour isn't a sport, it's a discipline. In fact i'm not even mad at her for what she said in the beginning anymore, she DID learn her lesson. Watch the end again, a few things she says are a little annoying, she says them as opinions, not ignorant facts like she did in the beginning.

19. 02-16-2009 00:52

Lisa Salters has offended my on two occasions.
This was the first time, claiming black people don't do Parkour. the 2nd time was making an ill comment about my fight club that was also featured on E:60.

20. 02-16-2009 06:49

75 percent of black hand is black! sebastin js black so black people do parkour

21. 02-16-2009 09:04

that was almost hard to watch because of her ignorance. XD

22. 02-16-2009 11:55

haha, i KNEW in the first 15 seconds she would say black people don't do this! also the whole comment of "9 year olds shouldn't be doing this" thats when people START doing parkour. learning their bodies and climbing and jumping! its what kids do!

23. 02-16-2009 12:50

I think no one should make comments about something you donīt know exactly what it is about, especially a reporter on TV... she should have gotten some information about the topic first...

24. 02-16-2009 14:52

Id liek to see kids do this. Heck, im 13! im prtty good. 9 year olds are made for this. this is when they are at there best. there still kids. And that "Black people dont do parkour" If Sebastien saw that, he'd... be really mad at her too. Go black people!!!!! :zzz

25. 02-16-2009 14:56

For those of you who still don't know, Parkour is NOT a sport. The reporter was right when she said its a discipline and NOT a sport. The word sport implies competition. A key point that was not mentioned in the video is that Parkour is used in emergency situations to help others or yourself.

26. 02-17-2009 09:14

ok, so this is a different debate, but heres three definitions of "sport" form Dictionary.com:
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2. a particular form of this, esp. in the out of doors.
3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.

ok the first one; keyword "OFTEN" not "ALLWAYS"
and i think PK would fit into the 3rd def easily. just because it is non-competetive does not mean its not a sport...
if rockclimbing is a sport than whats the difference?

27. 02-17-2009 13:55

That first part was not cool. I don't understand why race was brought into it, but I do appreciate the fact that during her report, she was not openly biased against parkour. Overall, I felt it was a positive piece.

28. 02-17-2009 15:57

parkour isn't a sport and it isn't a activity ...i think its a life style..(our choice to live life on the edge of abyss)
and these people don't know any thing about the art of displacement...

29. 02-17-2009 21:18

I'm 6 feet 9 inches tall AND black. People immediately assume that I play Basketball. They always have the same look of surprise when I tell them what I really do. :p

As ignorant as the reporter was in the beginning, I'm glad that she can at least see where we all come from now. I'd really like to meet her though, just so she can ask me if I play basketball.

30. 02-18-2009 17:13

Wow that lady was ignorant! She was doing alot of Racial profiling and why would you turn down something you dont know? Ridiculous.

31. 02-23-2009 22:27

It doesn't get anymore ignorant than that..i bet Sebastian got a good laugh at that, but i guess fear and jealousy can make you say some crazy things. Great job Ryan keep up the good work.
