The Lost Art of Hand Balancing is a great website with a ton of awesome information on balancing (obviously...). They also have a wide variety of related information, such as this article on conditioning your ankles. Logan points out that Parkour, Freerunning, Tricking, etc can cause ankle sprains, strains, tears and breaks. But these injuries are not unavoidable! Check out his article on "Injury Proofing Your Ankles" and start to incorporate some of these exercises into your daily routines.

Hmm... would walking on tiptoes also help?

i've found rolling your foot in circles with the ball of your foot on the ground and your weight on the opposite leg/foot helps a lot too. going into squats while up on the toes/balls of your feet, leaning your weight back and countering with your arms and then returning to the squat and to standing again is great as well. from standing, shifting your weight so you almost fall over to the right, front, left, and back also strengthens your feet and prevents injury.

foot safety. important. otherwise you'll be working on handstands until you're recovered!

Thanks for the video. As someone totally new to parkour I couldn't be happier to learn how not to hurt my self. I've recently started with the basics, rolling, and have the bruises to prove it as I've never done a roll like that before.

Thanks everyone!

Heh. I haven't been able to injure my ankle because of my tendons are loose like rubber bands my doc said but it will put more stress on my knees. Runners knees to the max :P
