The step up is a useful leg exercise to improve take off power in a running jump. Many jumps in parkour require a one footed takeoff, and more specifically, many require a step up onto and takeoff from a higher surface. In addition, the step up builds overall leg strength for sprinting and jumping.

Go Ryan! COPK ALL THE WAY! CU Boulder is pretty much amazing when it comes to parkour, that place is a giant playground.
