A common problem I've seen in many traceurs is that they don't understand photography. They might have a camera, maybe even a really nice camera, but they don't fully understand the principles behind what makes good photos. Ben Anderson, an avid Parkour Photographer, wrote an article explaining some good concepts to keep in mind while photographing Parkour (or freerunning, tricking, gymnastics, or anything else!)

If you want to take really awesome pictures, study up on photography. Pick up a photography magazine, read some articles online. There are plenty of resources out there, and you can take your pictures from "okay" to "amazing."

Check out Ben Anderson's article, and some of his great pictures, here.

:grin :grin :grin Finally someone has brought up the issue of parkour/freerunning photography. I am a professional videographer/photographer and become upset when certain pictures win POTW. Traceurs should expand into other forms of art, especially the visual arts. Good photography is something that every traceur should strive for. It does not always matter who is in the picture or what trick is being captured. Photography should always be focused on aesthetics.
