The New Yorker, who recently put out an excellent article on Parkour, David Belle and its growth in America, held it's annual festival this weekend at the Javits Center in NYC. David Belle was flown in, along with his friend Dino of PK One in Germany, to organize a demonstration and Q&A. DB Prod. Put out an open call to any traceurs interested in being a part of the demonstration, so on Saturday over fifty people gathered in the Javits Center Stonehenge fountain, arriving in from all over New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Canada. David and Dino arrived, greeted everyone and then led everyone in a rigorous warm up. The "audition" was more of a training session, which saw David and Dino offering help to traceurs as they were led through several basic techniques. The next day, the actual performance consisted of an interview with David then a similar warm up led by Dino, and then an open jam session of the area. This was followed by another Q&A session with the audience and a solo run by David. Overall the went very smooth, got a lot of people who didn't know about it interested in parkour, and gave a lot of people who knew about it an opportunity to meet and learn from its founder.
