does anyone know a way to work up to the handstand press? i'm working on the handstand, but i cant do one successfully yet yet. what exercises should i substitute in place of the handstand press to both build both my handstand balance and strength?

Hey if you have dumbells or weights of some sort you could take and hold them at shoulder level and then raise them straight up into the air.

I first learned to do a handstand, then some slow lowering and then a basic press. Beastskills is your friend :).

In wrestling we had to do handstand presses everyday. What we would do, b/c not everyone had perfect balance, is do a handstand up against a wall and lower yourself as much as you could. eventually you'll be able to do a good handstand press against the wall. then you can move onto doing it w/o assistance.
