Ever seen those commercials with the Mac and the PC, and the PC is going in for surgery? The APK website even makes Microsoft look good ... it is  Frankenstein of softwares, all of which we are extremely grateful for (and have made donations to the Open Source authors).

That being said, the APK website still runs on about 60,000 (actually 59,749) files, and is a conglomerate of about 12 different pieces of software, all which have periodic releases that need to be kept up dto date and in-synch with each other. read more if you're a geek and want the technical details.

The Details ...

Several months ago our forums got out of synch with our homepage registrations, and it's a major overhaul to try to get them back together. While the site won't look or function any differenty, it could be as much as three days to get everything up to speed. We'll keep you updated on the progress.

Progress: Step 1, backup 59,749 files for 15.8GB (exculding videos counted separately) - Done.

Step 2 - backup databases, 140MB in about 230 tables - Done.

Step 3, Download updated versions and owner's manuals for 4 major site-forum integration pieces. - Done

Step 4, begin upgrades - SMF forums updated- Done

Step 5, rebuild forum templates - incomplete

Step 6, Synch Users - Done
