Jump Transit PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 05 May 2006

On February 26, as a part of Tempest's nationwide tour, Colorado held its largest jam to date. Over 35 traceurs, freerunners, bboys, trickers, and more showed up to partake in all kinds of movement.

Also in attendance at the jam was Double Edge Films to shoot some video of the event. Double Edge films is a Denver based independant film company that has won many awards for their work. They've taken a shot at a highlight video, and its a pretty good shot!

Update - Forums Working!!

The good news is we seem to have figured out at least one of the major problems with the databse. The bad news is that fixing it requires 214 individual manual database parameter updates.

Here's what we're going to be working on, which should cue you off as to what we feel is important.

1. What Parkour is - info for new users. - Done
2. Tutorials - our most popular feature - Done
3. Access to order details so we could send out DVDs that were already paid for - Done
4. Ability to add new content - Done
5. Menus - if you can't see it, it ain't no good. -Done - needs small code cleanup

6. WOD - Update! I have started a google-group for the workout. If you would like to recieve email updates and become a part of the WOD mailing list (temporarily, we will have a permanent version up in the future) go to http://groups.google.com/group/APKfitness and sign up!

7. Access to comments - so people can see their old WOD results and continue to track - Done
8. Forums - so people can share information and ask questions etc - I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch! (Done)

9. Photo Gallery - again, so people can share info and see the pretty pictures!

This will probably take several weeks to complete, again we apologize for any inconveiniece. We appreciate all the supportvie emails and offers to help we've received in the past few days, this is the best community anywhere!

A long road ... PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 27 April 2006

Our weekend shutdown was highly coincided by our old host not being able to harness the RAW POWER of the APK website. In other words, they shut us down. We've moved once again to a new host, and this time we're serious, we're staying for at least a month, or until they kick us out, which ever is longer!

Big ups to the folks at Spry, particularly Lyle and Pierre who have been a huge help in getting the site up and running, it is a UNIX nightmare for a fool like me.

For now, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for any inquiries, as I mucked up the mail servers and am waiting for the changes to propagate the internet.

We appreciate your patience as we bring the rest of the site back online, things may go screwy for a while, but what's new?

Registration and other Issues PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 April 2006

This past weekend our host Siteground shut down our site for having too much traffic. Then they made us switch to more expensive hosting (16X the cost) to get the site up and running. SInce then, they have royally screwed up our site, many functions are broken. The most noticable is for new people trying to register who keep getting errors. Right now it is not possible to register for the site, we apologize for the inconvenience, and ask for your patience;. We'll update this message when you can register as a new user. This also affected email, so if you have sent email to any address @americanparkour.com and not received a response, please resend your mail.

Tempest Tour Footage PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 April 2006

In a first for US history, PD and AC of Tempest Freerunning did a tour across the country to meet and jam with as many Traceurs and Freerunners as possible. I was lucky enough to hook up with them on their first stop in Washington DC. They've just gotten the footage together.

Update: If you haven't seen these yet, there are now 4 released on Tempest's site, or in the APK forums.

Nice work PD!

Overflow! PDF Print E-mail

Siteground had to shut our site down again today for nearly crashing their server! We've upgraded to virtual private hosting, almost like having our own server :) The site will be slow and will only allow a few connections at a time until they are able to complete the upgrade, hopefully by tonight. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We're now running on the new server. Anyone seeing this Saturday is lucky, as the domain names service changes will take up to 48 hours to propogate through the 'net.

Parkour Article- Boston Globe PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 22 April 2006

As a perfect follow up to the APK article on the new New England Website, some of the main guys from the site are featured in today's Boston Globe (at least the online version). The article portrays a good sense of fun and respect for the environment, as well as the idea of Parkour being used as a vehicle for personal change and improvement. There's something about it though, I think the constant use of "Parkourist" and "Parkouring"  as well as mentions of "stunts" (oddly enough attributed to UF who I don't recall using that term) and "acrobatics" that makes me feel like not quite enough research was done - although they definitely spent some time with Quetzalcoatl and some of the other guys who are obviously well versed and experienced in Parkour. Click here for the article.

New England finally has a dedicated home for Parkour and Freerunning practicioners. It's close to my heart as I grew up in MA (well, as much as I "grew up" anywhere I suppose) Check it out here- and drop in and say Hi on their forums to help kick them off to a great start! Hopefully we'll see all the people on there at the PKUSA jam in June.
