Shout out to the Mid-Atlantic community from Psycosis! He's been at boot camp the past couple of weeks. He says that the "exercises are hard." (I'm sure they're plenty easy for him) He's on his way to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) next.
Keep up the good work, Psycosis. We're all sure you'll make the Military, and the Parkour community, proud!

Muse and Chad were interviewed about the growing Madison Parkour community in the Daily Isthmus. The piece is well written and informative calling parkour a new urban workout. Read the full article here.
We're very happy to say that no Traceur recently died while practicing parkour. We are disturbed to announce that this was a hoax, a carefully planned deception which was meant to teach a lesson "Parkour is Dangerous". American Parkour and every other community has always placed a strong emphasis on safety, working within your bounds, and learning the basics before progressing. Further, we have always advised that there is no need to practice on rooftops or anywhere that the risk outweighs the benefits. We do not condone the behaviour of those involved in the hoax and wish to apologize for posting information which we thought was valid. Please realize that most parkour practitioners are respectful and intelligent and would not take death as a joke under any circumstance, nor would we choose deception as a transport method for an otherwise important lesson.
On Friday, October 17th, Zachary Cohn and Brian Belida traveled to
Stamford, Connecticut to perform at The Loading Dock. The venue was holding a charity
event, the “Red Ribbon Affair,” to raise money for AIDS/HIV research.
There were dancers, singers, and musicians there to entertain the
guests. They decided that they wanted two traceurs to perform outside
of their venue to attract attention and be another cool thing for their
guests to see as they walk in. Brian and Zac got there and checked out
the front of the venue. It was a pretty laid back performance, lots of
balancing, stringing vaults together, and even a bit of juggling (while
balancing)! It was a good time, and it was fun to help promote a
fundraiser for AIDS/HIV research.
Adrian is a driving force in the Miami scene after a relatively short training career in Parkour and Freerunning. Although he has been practicing only about 2 years, his previous experience in martial arts and fitness obviously plays a strong role. Adrian is a boxing instructor and trainer, and often works with law enforcement doing tactical training. He recently joined the Tribe in Lebanon on a mission to teach parkour to kids. We're looking forward to his input to the larger community and welcome him to the APK family!

*EDIT* THIS WAS A HOAX - PLEASE SEE UPDATED STORY "Stefanos "Eon" Kiourkoulis from Team Kinesis in Greece passed away on October 18th when he fell from a rooftop at Aristotle University where he was training alone. I know that I can speak for the entire worldwide community when I say that we are saddened by this loss and that our condolences go to his family and friends. You can read a translated conversation from his close friend Konstantinos "Kostis" Aidarinis on the Hellas Parkour Forum . This is a terrible reminder that going on rooftops involves extreme risk, and that safe, pratical parkour training is what everyone should be doing. Here is a memorial video of this great traceur.
On Saturday, October 18th, Amanda Henry, Nikkie Zanevsky, and Christy Phillips raced in the Chicago Urbanathlon as Team Primal Fitness. They placed Fourth in Women's Relay, narrowly missing third. Read more for Amanda's write up of the weekend!
