This is straight off of the Parkour Generations website, in the News section. This is amazing exposure for parkour!

On the 2nd of May the global YouTube homepage and many of the local YouTube homepages from various countries will be featuring nothing but parkour videos for a 24 hour takeover. Parkour Generations & our filmmaker Julie Angel have been invited to be guest editors to work with YouTube and present 12 films from the global parkour community. Known as a 'Takeover Day', this event will give incredible new exposure to the grass roots of the discipline and will bring it to a whole new audience. The videos have been selected to show the international nature of parkour and the day-to-day nature of practise as opposed to the media spectacle that is so often given the limelight, and the eclectic range of edits comes from many of the global communities that Parkour Generations has had the pleasure of working with. Tune in on May 2nd..!

Get ready for a huge surge in soon to be traceurs, this is a great way to get the discipline out there. Lets just hope they feature videos that capture what parkour really is and the training it takes.

When I first started reading I was worried that it would just be a bunch of vids that are floating around on youtube that some tech pulled because they have "Parkour" in the title.  But knowing that the folks from generations are involved makes me feel much better

Considering the fact that Parkour Generations is directed and owned by some of the early pioneers of this discipline, and they are the ones choosing the videos, I don't think you have to worry about them picking videos that capture what parkour really is. You are talking about some people who were integral to the growth and development of parkour from it's early beginnings. If anyone is qualified to decide what is parkour, they would have more of a right to that than any of us, that's for sure, and surely they will have the best interests of parkour in mind when making their decisions  Wink

I would expect this forum will pick up some traffic during and immediately after that event.

That IS impressive... REALLY IMPRESSIVE! Has anything else ever taken over youtube before now? Well, if anything deserves to take over youtube it's PK for sure. Otherwise there might be riots and such...

Hm, could I get a link to this?  I can't seem to find it on the site itself, and a Google search only turns up this thread.

EDIT: Never mind, I thought you meant on the YouTube news page instead of the Parkour Generations news page.
