Right on. Right on. I'll have to get all the AR traceurs organized for this.

i feel the same way. for the most part i respect my places and dont leave a mark at all. but this one time my dumb friend did a little cat leap and broke the wall. i have no idea how in the world it happened, but i felt bad. so about a week later we clean up about the stretch of a mile's worth of ditches in the span of two day. it was hard and incredibly disgusting ( i found about five thousand condoms), but i felt good Broke the wall!??!?!?!?

Man that sounds awsome, and maybe i will finaly be able to convince the people around here that parkour isnt about jumping off of rooftops and flying of structures.

There'll soon be a thread up on PKNA where people can post about their experiences with this. I'd love to compile all the experiences together across the continent and have a one-stop place where you can see what happened in Florida or in California or in Toronto. I'll post it up soon. Have fun, everyone!

So after reading about the Leave No Trace Initiative on APK, and after watching most of Parkour Project: Pilgrimage, I propose an addition to Leave No Trace, which I call Project Whitewash.
No matter how careful and respectful we are to our environments, we always leave our marks on our obstacles. We don't think much of them. Indeed, many of us think of them even fondly, as proof that we spent hours perfecting a technique. But to many others, especially to the caretakers of the buildings, they can be an eyesore, an aggravation. I don't believe it's within the spirit of parkour to be disrespectful to them.
We strive to be strong to be useful. Cleaning up after ourselves is a pretty easy way to be useful, or at least to stop making others' lives harder. It wouldn't be too much of a burden to carry around a bucket and a sponge from spot to spot, cleaning up our scuff marks when we're about to move on. Not only will we keep our environment tidy, but we will also be demonstrating to bystanders that we are not just a bunch of hooligans defacing property. We will show the owners of the property that we respect them. And we will convince the officers of the law that we are productive members of society.
I'm going to start today. I hope that others will join me in this.
EDIT: Longer writeup.

For some reason, I think "Project Whitewash" sounds a little... culturally imperialistic. I guess there's no reason to be really PC about anything, though. Anyway... http://parkournorthamerica.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?5036 This is the thread where I'd like to catalog all of the experiences. I know this weekend there'll be a few communities that'll be getting on this. My own will be around the 20th. Good luck, everyone! it's great to see something like this gain global momentum like it has and to see every community agree to something so noble and beautiful, regardless of individual affiliations!

TXPK is putting together a video of us doing some WhiteWashing. Basically a high pressure hose that cleans off surfaces. We do a lot of rubbing on them...so that is our cause.

Before some training this afternoon, my friend and I first picked up some trash around the grounds where we were going to be training. I think I'm going to make it a habit of brining a small trash bag with me every time I train and doing this regularly before I start my warmups.

This all sounds great. I will for sure try to get my COPK buds to do this come April. I agree that we should try to get it known, especially since they are coming out with that Parkour movie that might shed a bad light on traceurs.
Hopefully this can reverse whatever bad impressions that people will have about us.

Camarillo, California was the first community to hold a Leave No Trace event. Apparently, it went off rather successfully and I'm told a video will be up shortly.

Really great idea. I will spread the word. Me and my buddy are going to clean up Wonderland Prak, which is a great training spot in Alaska. If anyone is gonna jam up here, it'll be clean

I found out today that i really have no choice when it comes to cleaning up my training grounds. I went down today as my only like day off work to check it out and i found that it is horribly damaged. Even if i was blind i would know it is damaged. Lots of the wood has fallen apart and there is trash everywhere. I a going to take this idea to the next level and actually clean and fix up the area for when actually get a chance to train. This is a really good idea Animus! +1

My friends and I are planning to turn this old polluted/destroyed lot in to a PK "park"/recreation area where anyone can hang out. Just got to get permission from the town.
I also have an idea of having artist(s) coming in and painting the obstacle's and turning the whole area into somewhat of a modern artwork. I will take a vid of the area soon, I pray to God we get the permission...
I think this will be a summer project. But I still think it is relevant.
