I suppose the answer (for me) is to get the word out about parkour and educate my community about it long before this movie comes out. If the community already knows a lot about parkour, then they'll understand that this movie is misrepresenting it. [If it does. We haven't seen the movie yet, so maybe it won't be too bad...]
I totally agree with you

Casper has a point. It's not like every time someone on a skateboard cracks open his skull, the media blames the latest skateboarding flick. And before anyone says anything, I know it's been around for a while. Just trying to find a fairly good parallel. Wow, very good point!

Let's just hope for the best. I hope it gets a positive outlook and not a poopy one that throws us down into the sewers...or wherever.... We need to be free!!

That review wasn't too bad, actually. Aside from the freerunning/pk thing, which is a common mistake, and really not a big deal, they made some significant points. Parkour – the extraordinarily athletic sport/hobby whereby you traverse a landscape and obstacles by leaping and bounding around fearlessly aside from the 'fearlessly' part, that was a pretty good statement. The "extraordinarily athletic" line makes me happy, because it's not saying just any old person can go out there and be amazing at it. It takes time and practice. Traversing a landscape and obstacles helps sum it up without getting to philosophical Let’s hope he’s hitting the gym between now and the start of filming (which may be some time away, if we’re only at script stage), because frankly, he’s going to need to, if he’s going to keep up with Parkour professionals. The review calls attention once again that it takes a lot of practice and hard work to get there, which is one of the main problems that people have with the misrepresentation of parkour. It was a pretty good review.

Give them a break. For a while, the terms Parkour and Free Running were interchangeable. People outside of PK circles who have seen Jump London(which introduced the term Free Running as a synonym for Parkour) or Jump Britain wouldn't know but would have still done research. /fail

Well, the way I figure it, we know absolutely zilch about this movie other than the generic idea that a cop infiltrates a band of freerunning burglers. The first trailer hasn't even come out yet, the actual plotline of the movie could take ANY direction from there. For all we know they'll actually treat parkour with the respect it deserves. You'd think that in a movie specifically featuring PK, the creators would understand and try to represent the discipline as accurately as possible (if a bit more glamorously than in reality). Well, we can hope at least... All I'm saying is don't judge it before we know more about the filmmakers' perspective.

Demanding is never good... Maybe you should be asking and people would agree? But I already agree.

Maybe we just gotta get as many people enlightened on what true Parkour is before this comes out...

...and yeah, that works too!

I know you didn't mean, I was just letting you know that sounded kinda mean and pushing people to agree with you. Lol, you are cool. But yeah, let's just wait it out, do our best to keep parkour looking as good as it should, and everything will be ok.

I think we should just keep doing what we feel like regardless of how anyone portrays it. Seriously, I really don't even care about this "issue" anymore. Sorry to be so blunt, but I don't even remember why we waste time stressing over nothing important at all. Who cares if parkour gets a bad name. Its not like suddenly its going to change any of our lives in any way whatsoever.
