Actually, Iceucold has a point there. I mean we could stand outside of where the premier is going to happen and pass out flyers or something, stating what it is we are doing and what are, for lack of a better word, intentions are with doing PK. And as RenegadeofJump said earlier "People tend to respond very positively to this discipline." Who knows, maybe if we do have a mass of traceurs there to promote the art, then people wont have such a bad impression on it. But then again, with the world these days, who knows. Im sure this will be the start of a new "breed" of traceur, and personally I hope one that fails miserably because they do not understand what the true nature of Parkour is about.

I just know that PK takes a lot of discipline, training and dedication. If anyway tried or even thought of doing parkour to break in places...
1- I dont think they'll commit to the dedication and training needed. 2- if they do, they will end up falling in love with it and really doing it for a good cause 3- if they just try to do it because they think they have the strength like most beginners, I'd like to see them trying the first big drop or wall up and getting busted. 4- I really just dont think thugs would have what it takes.. period.

That is very true. Hopefully it will be more of the number 2 option then most, but I think 4 is a very true statement. I dont think they could get their minds around the concept, and even if they did, I dont think they would take the time to actually learn what it is they were doing.

To be honest, I'm worried most about the large number of youngsters who will see the flick and try some movements on their own without any proper training. Then you've got the media ranting about "Another teen broke his back attempting "Parkour" yesterday."

I have been looking at this for a while and have maybe started to wonder if maybe we have overblown the problem and taken it a little out of proportion. If the movie comes out and it doesn't flop (it probably will since most movies these days have been sucking), there may be a new wave of poseurs, but I doubt they'll last for more than a year or so anyway if they don't learn what parkour is actually about and learn the real training. After all, not everyone who sees a new martial arts movie goes and tries to learn martial arts. And not everyone who watches movies involving other extreme sports suddenly goes out and tries it. I'm starting to think this problem (if there is one), will end up taking care of itself.

Casper has a point. It's not like every time someone on a skateboard cracks open his skull, the media blames the latest skateboarding flick. And before anyone says anything, I know it's been around for a while. Just trying to find a fairly good parallel.

lol muhammad. Yeah the media tends to focus on the violent brainwashed sects of Islam. Even though there are plenty positive peaceful progressive Islamic groups out there.

I think the Great Pumpkin is something we should discuss now and get it all out in the open.

Three words. Flying. Spaghetti. Monster.
I say this isn't really worth worrying about. I've thought about it for a while and I came to the conclusion that no matter what happens, parkour and the time I dedicate to training will still be the same no matter how people choose to look at it. I do it for me.

Two bad things about this...I really don't want everyone seeing this as parkour and I know that there will be tons of youngsters imitating this...

I suppose the answer (for me) is to get the word out about parkour and educate my community about it long before this movie comes out. If the community already knows a lot about parkour, then they'll understand that this movie is misrepresenting it. [If it does. We haven't seen the movie yet, so maybe it won't be too bad...]
