Your club constitution should detail what your club is about and that should give you some ideas as to how to shape some of your activities. Also, I'm assuming that since this is a HS club you will also have a faculty advisor. So if I were you I'd get together with that teacher and ask him/her for advice.
Some things you will most likely have to think about right away:
1. Fundraising activities 2. Electing/appointing club officers
Here are some suggestions for club activities:
1. Training sessions, obviously (I would suggest having a theme for each of these, such as "balance" or "precisions"). You may also need to have an official coach/athletic trainer on hand for those kinds of things, depending on your school's policies, so make sure you've got that covered. 2. Movie nights: watch B13 (you will likely have to get permission slips since it's rated R), the Yamakasi films, any Julie Angel documentaries, etc. 3. Equipment building sessions (parallettes, balance trainers, parcubes)--buy the materials from your fundraising stash 4. Field trips to gymnastics gyms (again, check with your club advisor/school administration for the rules/policies for this kind of thing) 5. Choreographing and putting on demos for school events like pep assemblies, sporting events, etc. 6. Showing respect for your environment by having a building clean-up day or "spring cleaning" day (Or a "Be strong to be useful" day)--work with your custodians and have the club members help out with small repair tasks, cleaning up litter on school grounds, repainting railings, etc. 7. Designing a logo, and t-shirts, and a motto (good to do this early on, and very fun for the club; helps build team spirit, identity, etc.) 8. Do some training with your school's liaison officer and/or security staff. This is fun, and a cool opportunity for them to learn from you. It also builds goodwill between traceurs and law enforcement which is always something we can use. 9. More "being useful": Volunteer your time and parkour skills to help with household chores for elderly people who can no longer do certain things like clean out their rain gutters, trim tree branches, etc. You can also offer this as a fundraiser, but for the older folks in the community, it's nice to offer it as a free service. Check on insurance and liability stuff for this one--your club advisor is a good place to start.
Be sure you are really clear about safety, progression, respect for authority/environment, etc. I know you will be, but I can't stress enough how important it is to imbue these things into the club's culture.
Some fundraising ideas:
1. Selling the t-shirts you designed 2. Having people pledge a certain dollar amount for however many of a certain athletic task you can do (number of laps around a track, number of precisions, number of yards of QM, etc.) 3. More of the "Be useful" idea: car wash, mowing lawns, raking leaves, etc. in the community. 4. Healthy snack sales (instead of a bake sale)
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hopefully it's enough to get you started. Congratulations on getting your club! Keep us posted on how it goes!
