Hey, everyone... I've been trying to get onto COPK for a while... didn't realize I had to register via the american parkour site... anyway, I was just going to ask if anybody out there knows any good parkour or freerunning spots in the Wheat Ridge, Edgewater, Arvada area... I've been looking, but I'm also a rookie... any help would be great...

Mines and Red Rocks are nearby, but I don't know those other areas too well.

mines is a little too west, and I'm not quite sure where red rocks is... sorry, but I've kinda lived under a rock the past 19 years, which is why I only know the Wheat Ridge-Edgewater-Arvada area..... I only just got into parkour recently, which is why i don't know any good spots... I find small places every once in a while, but I was hoping someone might know of a place that has a lot of fun stuff to do, you know?

I have a friend that lives in Arvada! It's one of those places that dosn't have one solid spot for parkour... The only good places that I can think of is on the side of one of its many office buildings buuuut that's about it  Undecided.. BUT! It's not all bad! I head over there all the time to do parkour with him because it is a great place to stop and go. There are little things all over the place, a rail here a drop there. So to answer your question to the best of my knowledge, Arvada is a good place for parkour not in just one place but all around. (to the trained eye)

I live in Arvada too. I just today decided to try to start parkour do you think you would be willing to help teach a newbie, or should I learn it before I try it with others? Huh?

You will definitely progress faster and safer if you learn from others who know what they are doing. Colorado Parkour classes are starting this weekend in Boulder and Denver and would be a great way for you to learn the basics. You can find more info at www.coloradoparkour.com/classes.html

The easiest way to hurt yourself is to go out and try everything you've seen in every parkour video online. I recommend the classes because it gives you a great foundation to then build upon through personal experimentation, but helps you avoid injuries.

i go all over lakewood, golden, arvada, wheatridge, and everything in between, there are spots all over, like previously stated, but i'll try to let you know of specific hotspots in the future. i don't like to confine myself to a specific area but go all over which is what is great around these areas.

red rocks is west, basically on the opposite side of 6th avenue from the mills. and it's pretty sweet there is even a wall with climbing grips...if you can wall run the space between the ground and the first hold Wink

blachawk, keep in mind I'm still technically a noob at this, I have no idea where any good spots are... I live close to 29th and Sheridan, so if you could tell me any good spots close by (I'm thinking within a five mile radius) that would be awesome... I also don't want to go by myself (just seems kind of boring without anyone else there) and I want to go with someone who has expierence so I'm not complete clueless and (more importantly) I can tell the difference between what's fun and what's stupid... Also, thanks to my retardedly busy schedule, the only time I can do anythign is after 6pm on monday, tuesday, and thursday until after April 16, so let me know if you can do anything...

psyko, i'm still a noob too i just have alot of free time to do whatever  Tongue . i havent spent much time over on sheridan, i usually stay more west, except lately(i've started walking all over and ended up at that pond with a trail around it over on sheridan & 26th or so(awesome place for tree climbing and running...away from geese)). i'll hit up that area this week and let you know!!

and just to let you know i don't just look for things to do things like vaults and wall runs, i like anything that looks like it would be fun or challenging to climb, balance on, transfer to, jump between, pretty much anything for me works.  Wink  but i'll see if we can do something sometime, the next couple of weeks are going to be pretty busy for me as i am planning on doing a short backpacking trip in a few weeks so i plan on getting ready for that by, if all goes as planned, hiking all day for the next few weeks(i'll still make sure to get out sometime this week and hit up sheridan for ya). and doing that monday-thursday and then working fri-sun i'll be pretty busy but in a month or so i'll be up for anything. Smiley till then, happy training!

I knida want to wait until after April anyway so I can focus on one thing at time... well, until then, have fun running!

ok, well i went out one day this past week planning to get down to sheridan. so i started walking there from 6th and wads(i decided to started walking more places instead of driving) and i got to 10th and sheridan and got distracted by the dry gulch creek trail, i think that was the name of it anyway, and followed it in to downtown denver till i hit the platte river and then followed that north till about 53rd and washington when i got to the national guard armory(has an awesome, portable climbing wall in storage) so i didn't quite find any places around 29th and sheridan. lol, but if you ever have a day with free time i suggest that route, it's pretty sweet, plus on the dry gulch creek there is an abandoned railroad and walking on the metal track for lon distances is good balance practice. there are also some good trees to climb and alot of space to run in, and a few places along the platte river to train. so if that's close enough check it out.

man, your timing is terrible!! well, actually both of our timing is bad i guess, but i'm leaving on monday for utah for the week, but any time after that i'm down to do just about anything monday-thursday.
