A gymnast friend of mine told me to keep a thing of chapstick in your pocket so you can apply it directly to the callouses throughout the day and keep them from drying out. Helps me quite a bit.

true dat.
Oh and I hate clipping my knees. I had a good clip the other day and my leg just exploded with blood. Not fun the day after. Its not the sore...its the bruise that hurts

Oh, I know what you mean. A few weeks ago I was jumping around on a brick wall and I managed to just catch my knee a tiny bit on the edge. It was really small, but it made a huge bruise and hurt for a long time. I really wish knees were stronger

thanks for all the feedback. ive been putting lotion on my hands, and i put neosporin and a bandaid on the thumb. it seems to be starting to heal up (i can zip up my pants without pain now) hehe. ive been wearing gloves while i slept, but im not sure why that was suggested...but its pretty comfortabe.
oh, and i know all about that knee thing, i was getting tired practicing kongs, and clipped my knee on my brick wall, and i thought i was gonna pass out. i had to just lay there and breath.

I think the gloves were suggested since you aren't really conscious of the way you might move your hand at night. So it sorta protects it if you were to move it the wrong way. Am i right?

Oh man, i know exactly what you mean about the knee thing. I somehow hit my knee on this box thing when i was railspringing it and i got a freakishly huge lump just under my knee cap. It was like a second knee and i couldn't even walk for the first days, and my knee cap went up and inch. I got an MRI and the doctor said it was just a ton of internal swelling. Now, it has been about 3 months and it is still swollen and still hurts after i have jammed for a while. If i hit my lump on anything it hurts like a mother. And, if it is cold it hurts really bad after a while. At this point, i don't really know what to do. I have iced it and for a long time i barley did any pk, but it is so hard to stop. lol.

Still for me the best thing to use is your bare hands and I know a lot of other people who agree. You can feel your obstacle, theres nothing like it. Your hands also have very good grip (the best), gloves and stuff just take the effect away. The only way I would were gloves is if I was injured or if it was very cold.

i agree, the area around my cracked thumb, and my cuts are toughening up, so dont have to use gloves anymore. i used them 2 nights, and tore them up. hehe.
