Question about Membership

Hullo there folks, had a quick question about procedures.

My name, well to be specific, my nickname is Edge, I tried registering under this name it was taken, hence the addition.
However, I looked up the name Edge, and it it someone that registered, never posted, and hasn't been active since he
registered two months ago...

Now I realize this is a little bit greedy, but I'd rather like to shorten my name to simply "Edge" and was wondering if
there is a time limit that transpires of inactivity to qualify a user for being deleted.

If the case is that once a name is registered, it's taken forever, I understand, just thought I'd ask.

Try This...

Click: Profile-->Account Related Settings-->The uppermost text box is the name that is displayed next to your posts, etc. Example: My 'name,' the one I can change, is 'Jag.' While 'Jag' is not necessarily my 'username.'

This allows you to change your displayed name to Edge, even when someone else has it. Technically, you could change your displayed 'name' to 'Jag,' and have the same displayed 'name' as me. But there is no reason you would EVER want to do that...right? Wink

PS:Don't you dare change it to Jag! Angry

Haha, no worries mate, Jag is safe,

However it says

" The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:

* The selected username has already been taken."

*shrugs* I also tried varying the capitalization, (I know what you're think, and I only tried using a lower case in instead of capitalized, I'd burn before I'd use the dreaded.... er, whatever that way of typing is cAlLeD... *shudder*) of Edge, to no avail.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Any other tricks up your sleeve?

What about some sort of symbol before and/or after 'Edge.' Like: *Edge* or ^Edge^ or [Edge]

Although normally I am exceptionally opposed to symbolled names of any kind, this has become sort of a signature due to the
hyphens appearing to be an blade of sorts.

I had the same problem with my moniker as well edge...old login, never used...same name as me...

Looks like you solved the problem to your liking...but the asterisks are another solution
