Is this K-Swiss shoe really worth it?
The website said it's $100.
I've never been one to spend over 50 dollars on shoes seeing as I tear them up quite fast so I want some clarification on these.

I've heard great things about it, but let's be honest...you don't really need a special shoe for parkour.  People (including the best of the best) have been practicing parkour for years and years without ever having a dedicated shoe for it.  Nothing has changed, other than companies seeing parkour as a marketable aspect of sport.

If you really like the shoe and think it might be worth it, go for it.  But if you're accustomed to spending much less on your shoes and are doing fine so far, I would save your money and spend it on something better.

yeah i agree with okctraceur.
its a personal preference. as for me i wouldnt want to buy a $100 pair of shoes knowing that im going to be wearing them out fast. i find it better to get 2 $50 ones that are just as good.

Alright.

I got these shoes in October, and have been trying to break them in ever since. Here is what I have found:

a) the grip is nice for alot of things...except they have less grip on metal than any of my other shoes(skate, nike air pegs, and merrell slams)

b) Why is the heel SO bulky/padded? You shouldn't be landing on your heels anyways....

c) The shoe is so stiff/pointed on the toe, that I have rolled my ankles more times with this shoe, than I have EVER with ANY of my other shoes.  This seems to concern me.... I thought breaking them in would help, but its been a few weeks now already, and my ankles keep rolling....

anyone else had this problem?

I think if you run them over with a car, it breaks them in. Atleast that's what you do with baseball mitts. Or you could stick it in an oven for a bit, that softens them up.

Wow, don't do that unless you plan on destroying your shoe. A shoe and a baseball mit are VERY different things.

Ok I guess not then Tongue Oh, and does anyone know if the custom shoes at www.mykswiss.com are any good? Me and ym friend were looking at the Rinzler (or Rindler... I forgot). He thinks they're good because of the grip at the toe... but I still think the fireblades/raceblades are better.

The Ascender SLT's arent too bad. Been testing a pair of those for about a month and its really just a light running shoe.
As for the ariake's, I havent run into the problems that Jumpoffmyroof has run into. Theyve been very stable (havent rolled my ankles at all), the grip rivals the best parkour shoes out there (I get the same grip on metal too, thats weird that you dont, gene), and the stiff toe seems to have helped both of those issues. The Merrells were just as stiff because of their thickness, and I find the pointed toe useful for climbing (like pointed rock climbing shoes). And I find that the padding on the heel doesnt affect anything, so why not have the safety cushion?

That sucks that those are issues for you, ive heard from a few people that those are all positive features. Perhaps a defective pair? haha.
