So my friend Evan and I were doing some thinking and wanted to make a video or take some pics in the spring when the snow melts and its not so wet(West Michigan got another 6 in. today ). I've seen that some people use putfile.com and a direct uplink approach; I was just wondering whats the best way to put vids or pics online to view? Also if anyone has any tips before we go out and film.

Hmm, I would say the best way to put up videos would be to find a permenant host through an established (going to be around for a while with plenty of bandwith) website, and if you can't do that, everyone seems to accept www.yousendit.com as the next best alternative. As for tips on filming, I would suggest that you wait a while before you really put too much effort into making a really good video and releasing it (I think you said you were new, in another thread, please correct me if I'm wrong ). Instead, use your video as a means to improvement. Film what you can do and then compare some of your movements to those of movements of others in the community with more experience than you, to see what you can improve on.

Yeah i'll have to look around then for a good hosting site. As for being new, yes , we are fairly new to the parkour scene, but we are a pretty ambitious duo and the learning curve is quick. We are still training and stuff, hopefully by spring(in michigan, thats the later part of march )we will have a pretty good feel for things, as for making a long time consuming movie, i would not probably do that until i have a considerable amount of training and technique under the belt. My friends and i had made some short films in our spare time so editing someting small is no biggie, so maybe i'll start with something small and short once the time is right. Anyways thanks for the input, its nice knowing that there are other people out there willing to lend a hand

Go with what trACEur said about using YouSendIt, I personally don't like PutFile but that's just me :] And as for actually filming, train your arse off until Spring then! Even in the snow training helps cultivate more mindfulness since you must be more aware of the slippery surfaces. Good luck, good training, and I look forward to seeing the video whenever it comes out. By the way, got a link to any of your other short films you said you have made previously?

yousendit is awesome, and don't worry so much about the video. try getting some footage sometime, and if you think it's movie quality, put it in a folder. otherwise, i use the camera for self analysis a lot of the time, as i'm the only traceur in the area

Yeah that sounds good, i'll have to check out yousendit then. As for the previous films, i only have them on dvd. The raw footage is scattered about on tapes floating around and the digital clips on the computer are long gone, but it wouldnt be that much work to import the dvd's, so if you have an interest let me know.
