An Email that I received:

Quote
Hi my names Anthony and I live in *random city*, Pa. Im 15 years old. There arent really any gyms to just go and practice near us and we cant afford real gymnastics coaches. Who can really? I was wondering though, if one of you guys who are experienced traceurs would come and hang and help us out for a day or a set time maybe once a month. We have the physical abilty to do it, and the time but we just dont know where to start. And it's all about safety. We would be willing to pay for some help. Thanks. I think all of what you guys do is simply amazing. That's why I'd like to start. Ok well thanks and email me back.

Anthony

Anthony,

First of all, welcome to the world of Parkour! I am glad to see that you are enthusiastic about beginning your Parkour training.

Regarding your request for a Parkour ‘coach,’ it is great that you want to be safe and start out right, but I feel that I am not experienced enough to undertake formal ‘teaching.’ I love Parkour and enjoy giving tips and pointers to other traceurs, but have not been in the discipline long enough to take the responsibility of leading other traceurs down the safest and most efficient path of training.

I do want to point you in the right direction, though. As you may already know, there are many beneficial internet sources available. Some are better than others. I believe that one of the best online resources is American Parkour.com [links below]. The community on APK is one of the most helpful and encouraging groups of people that I have ever come in contact with. The amazing levels of skill and understanding are not found anywhere else. Not to mention, it is FREE!

What are your thoughts about my reply? Anything else I should add? Or change?

Also, he lives like 45mins away from me, and seeing as I don't have my license...

Thanks for helping him out, he emailed me, I suggested trying to find people closer to him as he can't come to Primal / DC.

I think your email was great. Smiley You might want to check back with him in a couple weeks to see if he's found APK (although I'm guessing that's how he found your and Mark's email addresses in the first place, maybe?) and how he's doing, and also to point him to the PA forum here, if he hasn't already found it, but that's just a suggestion.

Well done. Great email.
