Freestyle? what's that?

jeez. Slow-mo is a very nice technique to use... But don't use it so much. You bore your audience...and it's just a bit much altogether.

And why do you call yourself a "freestyle" parkour team? That looked like regular ol' parkour to me....

It was a decent vid but I was expecting to see more freestyle parkour since it says you concentrated on that but there wasn't much freestyle. are you the guy in the red shirt with a black hat or who? (the guy in the red shirt does a really fast reverse vault which tickled my fancy. Grin)

i was the guy in the red shirt, it isnt pure parkour and we called it pure parkour on parkour.NET and andi had a huge go at us for it so we decided to call it freestyle parkour to avoid problems like that again.

my name is faris and im the one who does the cat grab, my freind max is the one in red. we called in freestyle parkour because we posted this video on parkour.net and people were critizing us for calling it a parkour video because it wasnt all pure and movements in it which were not that efficeint like reverse vaults and 360 underbars. we know its mostly parkour, but the proper name is freestyle parkour in england if not all of your movements are 100 percent effective at getting from a to b and are not considered 'pure'. anyway, we had fun making it and didnt get put of by negative points from the guys at parkour.net.

ps, sorry about all of the slomo, we didnt hav much footage but wanted to use the whole song to make it seem more dramatic so had to repeat stuff or use lots of slomo lol  Wink

faz and xam- I understand exactly the stiuation you guys have been in. The clan I run with is definantly Freestyle Parkour. Our movements, like yours, happen to contain some elements that aren't 100% parkour but for the most part it is true parkour. Keep up the good work guys.

on a side note- since you guys are from london, or at least get to jam at some of the "infamous" spots. Have any of you ever PK'ed with any of the UF team or been out and about when they are training/running or whatever?

*sigh* you obviously still dont get it.......

as for the video. you should release another version with a different song and no slow motion, because many people aren't going to sit through that.

Klaymen jumps in, quotes me, then adds a non-helpful and worthless remark. This is a first! Klaymen never quotes me! I have never seen him do that to any of my replies on any of the various threads.
(it is so much harder to portray sarcasm in text than in spoken word)

seriously though klaymen- if you have a comment for me that has no benefit for others who will read it on this public forum- just email, IM, PM me or whatever its called. Just send me your message with all the little purple quotes in it you want and I will read it and reply. Although, I'm sorry to add, I do not favor the quote box option as much as you do but we can work around that.

the reason i use the quote box is to let people know exactly who i am responding to (being as i wasn't responding to the first post).  also, about PMing. why don't you just pm people every time you disagree with them? perhaps i wanted other people to see it. maybe i didn't think you would read your pm's, or maybe it was just easier that way. but know this. as long as ignorance it posted, i will do my best to correct it. and likewise, if i post something ignorant, i would hope that more informed people would help me out. but you seem to be very hard headed. you are clinging to the first definition of parkour that you were given simply because it was the first. you refuse to except the fact that where you first got your information from may be wrong. even now, you attempt to fight for your erroneous thinking. for some reason you cannont contemplate that parkour is not just a bunch of movements. which is why i said you still don't get it. also, there is no such thing as "true parkour" if you understood what parkour was, you would know why i say this. maybe one day you will, but it is not looking hopeful. i was not trying to start a flame war, and as i can see one brewing, this will be my last reply in this thread. just read over the topics where people are trying to help you, and stop being so daft.

that is not a email.

in case you weren't aware: If you look at the left hand side by everyone's post there will be there screen name and a pic if they loaded up one and at the bottom on the right had side you can click on a icon that says IM. That feature allows you to send personnel messages to someone you wish to confer with.

That was pretty sweet, I think you guys probably did use a bit too much slowmo, but it was well worth it for the song! Grin  Like nobody over here in the U.S. knows who Andy Hunter is, I LOVE his work.  He's probably my favorite techno artist, is he pretty popular over there in the UK?  Anyway, next vid you guys do you should use something from his new cd, it's awesome. thanx for the comments guys, i have the original video Oxtricks 2nd which has less slowmo but was less tightly edited, my hair did stick out weirdly that day and when i run up the stairs it looks like im wearing bams hat but it was a cap. we have been to a jam with uf there and also a jam with team evo, it was a huge jam so we didnt have time to talk to uf but the guy who started our team knows team evo.

Yea..Lets gang up on Klaymen again DEFT.  At any rate.  Most of the comments you make to defts comments are not helpful and they are used to get into a flame war.  Seriously...sorry for wasting good space on this post but everytime Klaymen makes a bad decision of flaming DEFT instead of maybe the person at the beginning talking about Freestyle then your going to get at least a post from me.

Man DEFT...you still just dont get it *flips hair back and gives you the hand* lol

Man i don't get the point of "freestyle" vs "Pure" parkour.  Personally i think freestyle completely wins out, because if the only point of parkour is getting somewhere efficently why not just fucking drive?

Parkour to me is about having fun, pushing the body to its limits and using the environment in brand new ways.      Purists being douches about it is damaging to the community and the sport!

In other news, sweet video!  Its neat that american parkour is attracting people from across the pond to post thier stuff =D

thanx for comments, i dont see the point in this whole freestyle vs purist pk either, but i guess purist parkour has its uses like when being chased etc.. which is always handy but when training im sure most people practise freestyle as it helps with purist pk anyway

None of you guys get it... STOP ARGUING OVER IT!!!!!!!, if you insist on arguing PLEASE, dont hijack other threads for it because it is completley poinless this talk dosnt belone in pics/vids. Im not going being able to convince a christian to switch to being a muslim, simply by nagging him to death everytime he posts, and im sure as hell not gonna get that guy to leave me alone with sarcasm(although i love it so).
