There is this one wall, that I'm planning to jump on top of, that is 11ft away and approximately 2 ft up (from the spot i jump, not the ground below it). I usually jump to it to a cat grab, but I think I have what it takes to skip a step, and land on top with one foot on, and one leg down to stop me from falling over to the other side.

The wall, every 10 feet or so, the top side of the wall is twice as wide, so it has more area that my foot can land on, so naturally thats where i'm gonna aim for.  I've been looking at this wall for a long time, just waiting for one of those days that I go all out and decide to go for it.

One day, I'm looking at the wall, at the spot I decided I should jump from, when I see in big black letters on the wall that says  "please don't". Now I'm wondering if I should follow the wall's advice, or just go for it anyway.

Here's a picture of the wall. I'll upload a picture of the grafitti as soon as I can.

If you're confident that you can do it, by all means go for it! I have to admit, the wall looks much more friendly in the picture than it did in my mind... Cheesy. Keep in mind that the height difference between a jump to saut du bras and precision is quite significant. Consider that in a precision your feet will have to make it where your hands are in a SDB.

If you're not 99% confident, perhaps try working on your broad jump or lower/shorter precisions. Also, you could try jumping from the taller wall to the shorter one across the sidewalk.

Lol. That reminds me of this sizable gap I wanted to do, it was to this skate shop that had stickers all over it that said "Don't Do It" (mocking the nike slogan) but I did it anyways because I dont believe in like "the universe trying to tell you something" and it turned out fine. You'll know when you're ready to do the jump. Best of luck with it.

Well, does this wall seem like it gives particularly good advice in other instances? Read the other graffiti, put it in context, and decide if this is a trustworthy wall.

And then do it regardless. It's just graffiti, man.

That wall looks friendly to you ggreenvln? It's seems so much larger when you go to it in person or see someone stand by it.
But yeah, I'm not superstitious, I'm going to go for it when i'm ready. I just thought it was a funny little story.

Nice! I wouldn't worry about the double wide part, your foot will be just creeping up the side anyway, I don't think you're going to overshoot it Smiley

One thing you could do is practice a "no handed cat" ... just landing on the wall with your feet and pushing off, that way if you don't make it you know you have a safe out.

You should see what it looked like in my brain before I checked out the picture... Wink
