not quite what i was expecting (in terms of looks) when it comes to a pk shoe.  3 color options to choose from: esp/light brown/black  comes out august 1 (what the heck color is esp supposed to be?), black/charcoal/gold on september 15, the white/black/blaze doesn't have a release date yet.

i get an overall "decent" impression from this shoe.  doesn't look too heavy or inflexible, leather upper will probably hold up well, and the mostly featureless outsole looks promising (click the "GO 360" button to get a view of it).  my two complaints about the shoe are the price ($100) and the midsole material (CMEVA).  my last pair of asics had compression-molded EVA midsoles and they got killed very quickly..

replacement insoles are a possible solution to any cushioning issues, and if i see these in retail stores i'll definitely check them out for fit and comfort.  however, i will most likely hold off on purchasing until after the reviews start pouring in.

Looks too heavy to me i wonder if they tested it out much or just threw it out. Honestly i wouldnt want to buy a "free-running" shoe because that would spread commercialization in parkour

These shoes look horrible to me.  For one, the outsole rubber is vertical, whereas that's the direction you will be pushing off for wall-runs in.. which means it's more likely to SLIDE along the grain than GRIP against it.

It looks, uhhhh... interesting?  At the beginning, they looked ugly, but the more you look at it the more pleasing it becomes as far as aesthetics go, to me they actually look fairly light, but, I wouldn't risk the money until I have read some reviews, and besides that I too, wouldn't like anything parkour specific, it kind of changes the whole spirit, it makes it feel, somehow different

I actually have those shoes on my feet right now. Looks are deceiving, and these shoes are nothing like you would expect them to be from looking at them, and by that I mean I love them. Gear and I actually took them for a spin in the rain and that cleared up any questions I had about the grip.

yup, I'm serious. I have had no problems on any surface that any shoe wouldn't have problems on ( anti climb walls, wet marble, wet metal,). the shoes are very light, and i broke my old high jump record with them, jumping onto a 5' stack of drywall. the only things I would change about the shoe is it could use a bit more ankle support, and it could also breathe a bit more ( although they are fairly waterproof in my experience, and this might be why)

$100 seems a bit pricey. Is it REALLY worth the extra like $50-$60? I doubt it, or at least I'm waiting until I hear more.

Yeah I noticed too, there is no women's version. I'ma need to do some Googling or something to figure out what my size is in US men's.

That's what good landing form is for. They are plenty cushioned, but no amount of cushioning on your feet is going to make up for improper landings or the fact that we repeatedly make a point to incur large impact on hard surfaces Wink

The traction of a shoe on a flat surface is much less a product having functional tread than it is surface area. This is why racing slicks for cars are made the way they are. For mud, dirt, grass, etc. tread is good, though I have yet to have a problem with these shoes in any of these situations.

Ummm...what shoes are you getting for $50? You can find deals on ebay every once in a while, but I fully expect to pay at least 80-90$ for a good pair of shoes. You get what you pay for Wink

My gripes so far: They could extend the rubber up and around the toe (like a climbing toe rand) for less delamming of the sole. The central section on the toe is also nylon covering the leather which wears through when your toes drag on wall-runs/cat topouts etc. That being said, I've yet to actually wear all the way through...it started to fray and then stopped.

A couple of things I like a LOT about these shoes (after being VERY skeptical at first): The grip ROCKS. I thought they would suck on anything other than dry pavement, but as Will said earlier, they handled a rainy training day with aplomb while keeping my feet dry, which was an added bonus. They are very light for being as durable as they are, and we're wearing the leather version now, they will have a newer version out with their tech-tuff material that is like ruberized synthetic, which is even MORE durable. They are quite supportive, especially laterally, so your feet don't slop around too much, even after they break in, which when they DO, they are ridiculously comfortable. Another great feature is the material they used in the heel cup which grips your sock and keeps your heel VERY secure in the shoe. The insole is perforated for some breathability, which is a nice touch, and the tongue of the shoe has the pocket like soccer cleats so that you can tuck your laces out of the way so they don't catch on anything. So far, a very well thought-out shoe with more innovations to come as they get more feedback.

I would say they are worth it. Me and gear have spent an obsecene amount of time in these shoes, training and teaching at Primal, and they have proven more than up to the task.

Keep in mind that the Parkour community is pretty small to pander to in general for a company like this...their total sales can only be but so high in a burgeoning sport...now think of how many female traceurs there are...they'd have to set up an entire marketing, production and distribution infrastructure for 3 people Wink
