When I am talking to someone about what I'm gonna do tonight or what I am doing this weekend, and it's Parkour I am doing, I have a hard time saying What I'm going to do. So what do we call it?
Let me approach this from another angle. The Art we Do is Parkour and Freerunning. We who Practice it are Traceurs (or Traceusse). How do we refer to the action of practitioning the Art? Am I doing Parkour? Am I playing? Am I running? Am I Parkouratizing? Am I Tracing?
I most often refer to it as going and playing "I'm gonna go play" though My focus is sharper then the average kid so it might not be considered playing. I'd love to hear what the rest of you all in this community call it or if there is an official term for it. Thanks!!!

i wouldnt call it playing, they may see it as some kids game, although it is fun. Parkour helps people break free and in way people do see it as becoming a kid again. stick to what skipper is saying, training or practicing.

Think of it like a martial art. You wouldn't say im going kung-fuing because kung-fu is a noun not a verb. To make these a verb you have to use a different verb. I would use the verb that you are doing that day. If you are going to train, say I am training parkour, If you are going on a run (With obstacles) say I am going on a Parkour run.
Frerunning can be used as a verb.

usually i just say something completely unrelated. "im gonna go hang out with friends downtown." for weekends and stuff. "im going for a run."
and im still pretty self-conscious about it, so i try not to tell people what i'm doing..

Why? !?!?!?!?!? Are you ashamed to be a traceur? (Freerunner whatever) If people want to know what you are doing......tell them, don lie for whatever reason. Why be self concious? I would be proud of the fact that I enjoy something and that I was going to do it

I just say I'm going to do some Parkour training. My friends and I have also started saying "PKing" It just sounds better than "Parkouring".

Not at all. I'm not ashamed...
I have a history of being mocked by people for the things I did.
Now, I know it's irrational to believe that I'm going to mocked for everything I do, but growing up that kinda became ingrained, mainly because my rhetoric didn't match my ability.. I talked big and delivered little.

damn I know the fealing, why not just give it a try and tell people your a traceur, it's a proud title. And if they give you guff then show them a thing or two! And if your not that good then tell them so but there's no need for lieing......
(Back on topic) I don't see what's rong with saying stuff like... "I'm going to do parkour" that's what I do.

I know how you feel. I used to be mocked for many things I have done and still do. I have found that when I made the decision to stand for what I stand for and boldly be okay with that, not only were people more okay with what I did but they too wanted to do it and be around me more. Often people make fun of that which they are yet unable to do or understand to calm there own discomforts. Keep your chin up. A person who stands for anything is a rare and cherished person. As you choose this view in small things, so shall it manifest in the rest of your life. Then people won't call you wierd, they'll call you a trend setter and a visionary. Can you imagine what David Belle and his buddies felt like when they started? Anyone who sticks there head above the crowd is liable to catch a few tomatoes. If you want a plan for success then observe the masses and do the opposite. Keep Running!!!

I tell my parents "i'm going to jump off extremely high buildings for awhile, i'll be back by supper" just to concern them and freak them out... that usually works best
