I've just been browsing some of the injury forums and I can't strain this enough

IF SOMETHING HURTS AND ITS WEIRD OR SERIOUS GO SEE A DOCTOR!

I'm getting scared that people are using the injury forum as there first doctor. Yes if something like, my ankle hurts after I twisted it any suggestions to take away the pain or make it heal better you can post it since its not immediate but remember that we are all tracuers not doctors, sometimes we may be right sometimes we may be wrong and I think that if you have a pain in your knee when you keep it bent or you hurt your wrist really bad and now it hurts when it moves you should be calling a clinic, they can even help you over the phone.

Dont be afraid to call a clinic it doesnt make you a pussy, it just makes you smart.

So, just remember this is a forum where anyone can post anything and I'm guessing none of us went to med school. Your doctor is your best friend, and he should be the first guy you talk to about any problems that are currently bothering you.

Sorry to rant but I just wanted to get that out there

I agree.

Also, to add on I would recommend seeing a physical therapist or some sort of sports doctor. Most of your regular doctors at the hospital or your family's doctor do not specifically deal with sports related injuries and thus their knowledge base and recommendations can be incorrect.

I do agree if you have the money, if you dont clinic doctors are still doctors, I mean they just went through 4 years of med school but bah, who would trust them

no offense to steven, I dont mean to come off as mocking you just theirs a general opinion around tracuers sometimes that doctors dont know what they are talking about

Sometimes they don't. Like asking regular doctors specifically about diet stuff... somtimes they're not up to date with that. They're not registered dieticians; nutrition is not their main area of expertise.

In any case, yeah, see a doctor if something feels wrong. That's a good general rule of thumb. Better safe than sorry.

The worse thing that can happen is you see the dr and its minor.  Then you just know what to do next time though experance.  I will never have to see the dr again over a sprained or turned ankel.      Cry that HURT!!!!!!!!!

I will never have to see a doctor again over a broken collarbone. But anyways. I don't go to the doctor much. I don't use modern medicine so 9 our of 10 times doctors can't help me :/.

I've gone to the doctor's three times this week, though this was the first time in months (since an accident in November).  None of these visits were for injuries though, just sickness.

Got a physical about 4 days ago, and I was perfectly fine. (I needed forms signed for cross country.)
Two days ago, I had came down with an ear infection, and went to the doctor's yesterday to get some medication.
Today, I woke up with pink eye.

This is so screwed up.

I'm actually a certified W.M.D. (Web Medical Doctor... :p). So you can come to me with all of your aches and pains, and I'll diagnose them and tell you what you should do! It's that easy.

Examples of previous treatments I've given: My friend once stepped on a toothpick, and had it lodged halfway into his foot. He came on AIM and IMed me. He said he couldn't rip it out, it hurt too much. I told him to get a sharp pair of scissors, and cut it off as close to the base of the foot as possible. Push it the rest of the way in, tape up the wound, and walk normally. The toothpick would decompose shortly once within the body.

I'm a fantastic doctor!*

*Note - this was a satire. I am not a registered WMD, please don't come to me for medical advice unless you want advice of the such given above. This is a good thread. Doctors are friendly, nice people who want to make it so you don't die. Because if you die, then they're out of a job.
