I was just watching a war training vid from ww2 in my history class and I saw troops doing and exercise where they would run on walls that where slightly diagnol, of course the first thing I thought was PARKOUR! I then saw vids of them vaulting and such!
Does anyone no more about this? Probably a gymnastic program but the diagnol walls really get me....

Military obstacle course training, in a very particular fashion, began in the early 1900s, greatly inspired by Georges Hebert. This is where "parcours du combattant" started. The trend caught on and spread throughout the world and most militaries today have their own version of it. I don't doubt a lot of WWII soldiers trained in MN, particularly the French ones.

uuaaaughhhhh!!!
By all means, your question is a reasonable one, but should be a question in your mind, which you easily find an answer to using google, or even reading the basic "What is Parkour" articles from the homepage.
Everyone is welcome to have discussions and ask questions here, but please read up on the very basics before asking questions.
If we allow these forums to be a discussion on that level, then we negate all the hard work (or even easy work) that people have previously done to compile information.

The thing is, it IS a repeated offense. When you've been around as long as M2, ALOT of things are repeat...and it just gets annoying.... Don't take it personally, but just take his point for what it is.

Now how did that benifate this post? We all need to take a cue from WhiteNinja and do something constuctive befor we post then maybe we wont beat around the bush or post stuff that has already been said in the post. And don't use videos as an excuse for this add some critisim in every video you watch and then tell them how you think this can be corrected NO useless posts. I wasn't harshing any one on this but why fight over stupid stuff its just words. I don't know how mainy ppl with Years of expearance from with in the USA tell me every other day about the BS that goes on here. And I defind it tell them its still has to get its legs under them and its a defalt situation on larg forum. But not to mainy ppl even post and when they do Its just repeating what someone has already posted. On the Indiana board I make shure stuff goes where it needs and if their are any useless posts they "disapear" This may sound alittle harsh But when there is a post like off topic who listens to what music I put it where it belongs in the global communtiy under Soc?lize. Now I don't post on every thing but the stuff I post on "unless its socolize" matters or adds even if they don't listen to me or acnolage it. If it adds to the post great. If its something thats already be said in the post and doesn't add any thing new ... bad. If it repeats something and then adds something else... Great. Sorry guys I don't mean to get all hostile but its late and there are personal issues in my life right now and this trival stuff needs to end. We talk about uniting all the parkour communites, and the web sites are communites, but we don't even have our shoes on. If we are going to make such a jester we better be ready for all eyes to be on us looking for every flaw. Other wise they will find use imature and wating. I have seen maing a group on Myspace try and add me now. Half of them Ingore because they seem very unporfessional. And here we are talking about Unity and we are going to have some VERY profficional people looking at us. And we start arguing about parkour in the milatary and when some one comes and says everything that should be said the post doesn't die? Only more goes chaos goes on. If we are not organized no one will see us as a model in the parkour comunity let alone let us be a keystone to global parkour unifacation. All the mods have said what I just said. Look at the sticky notes. I am not mad just agravated to see a place I know and love do this every two months if we aren't moving forwards we are moving backwards. YOU NEVER MOVE BACKWARDS IN PARKOUR. Rant # 2 Any feather questions or comments PLEASE make a new Topic! I am going to repost this Under Rant # 2 POST THERE we can go all out. Look under socalize thats where it will be. LOOK I LINKED IT http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php/topic,3812.msg45064.html#msg45064

Look, I'm not being harsh, or angry, or anything, I'm just stating a simple fact. These forums will operate at a higher level if people read the existing information and educate themselves before firing off questions. I've now said it twice, so no, I'm not adding anyhting new, but it didn't seem to stick the first time, it's realy a very simple and pleasantly intended request FSF as much as I value your input and total willingess to help, why should people email you to ask questions when all the answers exist in 5 tiday articles on the frontpage, the very first things people should read when they get here!

If they needed anything else. Or would just like to talk about parkour ingeneral both physical and physolophical(sp). Some stuff is harder to find then others but mostly its easy to find if you look for it. Some people are just to lazy and would rather talk to some one else and in those cases I am more then willing to share what I know as well as learn from some one.
