Yeah, lets lock the thread as soon as someone stands up for the new guy who just got his head busted open after a bad bail. I'm sure that will send the right message about how accepting, friendly, and community-based we are.
Really guys, I'm sick of people posting negative, hurtful comments on these boards. Parkour is supposed to be about mutual sopport and encouragement. If you are concerned that Sean is endangering his health by not warming up, stretching, and knowing his surfaces (as I am), then simply say as much without getting down on him and making him want to turn away from these forums, or even from parkour.
Furthermore, TBC has an excellent point in that there are a lot of people here that want to strictly define every last thing about parkour, while they at the same time loudly espouse the free and flowing nature of the art. I have seen one post after another offering harsh criticism and ridicule, often directed at "new" members, with little to no attempt to further the practitioner or the practice.
If you only have negative things to say, please keep them to yourself.
Sean, I'm sorry to hear about your injury. Take care of yourself and get well soon. We all bail sometimes, but be more careful in the future, and try to learn from your mistake.
Argon you contradicted yourself. You said that Parkour is supposed to be about mutual support and encouragement. Would you say that The Boom Collective's statement that nobody in the ENTIRE COUNTRY knows what parkour is, is supporting anybody, or encouraging for that matter. On the actual topic of this conversation even if I don't agree with some of what Sean has said in the past I don't really believe that this is very much his fault. Can you honestly say that you have never made a mistake? He didn't say that it was wet or anything. He just messed up a little and just because his mistake happened to be worse I don't believe he should be judged as harshly as he was.

I may have ripped on Sean a little more than I should have at the time, but I was afraid. A little while back there was a post about someone who got seriously injured and "drug parkour's name into it" (I tried finding the exact post but I couldn't) and the discussion was about how bad that was. That's what I was afraid of with Sean at the time. If someone got hurt in their school and didnt have a good hold on what pk was (in any general sense) and they drug pk's name into it, it could just cause problems not only at the school but everywhere else too. Parkour needs good light, not bad.

i don't see how this thread got so crazy and wat not, he just posted a thread about him messing up a lil and getting hurt pretty bad. and then some of you went off on him. wtf is that. today i messed up, i missed a precision and hit my head. although its not as severe as seans. So does that mean i was asking for it? huh everyones messed up. some are bad some are not. But flairing on him cuzz of a mistake is just wrong and im behined him 100 and 10. and ppl saying that he was showing off and thats how he got hurt. i don't know were u got that. there were only two ppl in the room. him and another tracuer. he just saw a rail and vaulted it. and it went bad. and then this other shit. someone said he brags when he does 15 foot gainers. idk who said that but u need to keep your mouth shut and don't go saying things that u don't know. he cant do a gainer anyways. i've trained with sean most of my parkour life and he's a amazing athlete a great partner. never been injured b4, this was his first. and out of our whole team. sean is the one to know that showing off will get u hurt. he dosn't show off at all. trust me i kno. so really all i want to say is be respectfull don't go flaming someone untell u know what really happen.

That's all well and good Van*, but the image you portray on the Internet is the image you will get judged by other people on the Internet. That's just how it goes. No one is honestly insulting him, but he did post some stuff up here which we all agree is not Parkour and gives Parkour a bad image (15 ft gainers??). That's why people went off on him and while it was a little harsh, I do think a lot of us are kind of getting annoyed with new people coming in and asking the same old questions or saying they do crazy stuff in the name of Parkour. It is definitely frustrating, but we don't mean any harm!
Get well soon though! Be more careful; I myself am recovering from a sprained/fractured ankle from being a bit careless (not focusing enough on what I was doing).

OOOK where to start. There were only two posts that said that he was asking for it, if you need help ask somebody who can count. Sean has posted NUMEROUS times that he knows and wants to show off sometimes (everybody does on a subconscious level but you don't need to do endanger yourself for it) If you are so fucking smart and know him so well then maybe you should have read the post where he said that he wants to do 15 foot gainers to show off to people. True, but I only do it if needed. Im smart about how hight I jump. Some times I just want to impress people. Yea and after a few times i did feel some pain im prety sure that was like a warning. Thats a direct quote idiot and guess what so is this. Wow im suprised on how big this thread has gotten. Training is so hard cuase I have to work all the time, but on the bright side, I get money to suport gymnastics lessons, well ima sign up. And I know flips arent PK but oh well. I want to impress people when I do a gainer off a 15 foot ledge. I need to make one thing very very clear right now. I have absolutely NOTHING against Sean. I think that he is new and he has much to learn just like we all do, he needs to listen to advice (not really saying he hasn't) and learn from his mistakes. And to Cyanide I think that Gear was just being a grammar Nazi but somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. PS: Van I think its great that you are standing up for you friend in a time of need (well not really need) I respect that. The only problem is that you don't have your facts straight or maybe everybody is interpreting what him saying he wants to do a 15 foot gainer to impress people means.

manly i'm flaming the ones who said he was asking for it and the 4 freakin messages i got of ppl telling me he was asking for it. And the others who said he got hurt cuzz he was showing off. and about the 15 foot gainer, PARKOUR ISN'T ABOUT IMPRESSING PPL. buuuuut gymnastics and eh maybe freerunning can be used to impress ppl. he never said anything about parkour being about 15 foot gainers he just wants to do one, and show some ppl what he can do. He never came to this site saying ooo look im all crazy and what ever you said yes i agree some of his threads are pointless and if so poor imaged to what he is really like, and i got my facts straight. so don't tell me i don't. i was there i am here i read the post.

He may know what parkour is but regardless of what you call it doing a gainer off 15 feet is not a good idea.

in regards to aiming towards the people that flamed him van, i don't know for sure but i think some of them are new to PK as well, i hate to judge by post count, but i think i remember seeing the the "your year in review" thread that some of them had just started PK it the late part of 06.
maybe there "transgressions" against your friend in your eyes should just be taken with a grain of salt so to speak, and chalk it up to a misunderstanding, or rather lack of understanding on some peoples parts(not sean necessarily).
but i could be wrong tho, im going to look around the fourms now to check on that, unless they want to chime in and let us know.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7Kh8NeG9wf8is what it reminds me of. He made a simple mistake and was sharing it with the people on this forum. I dont really know why people are calling him stupid because he said that he's done it many times before. If he were to try a jump that even he knows he wont make, then you could say that he was wrong for doing it. sorry sean for all the other people who have been giving you a bad time. ~_^
