Dude, I talked to my doc about this because I came in with a wrist injury about 5 months ago along with my annual check up and he told me all this crap (and banned me from more then 1 can o soda), I told him my eating/exercise habits and he told me that I should try to have dinner around six and no more eating around 12 and 1 in the morning.
sorry but I gonna trust the guy with the phd...

And I'm going to trust the free and accurate information you can get from quality sources on the Internet.
I don't know how many times I've seen smart people like doctors, personal trainers, physical therapists, etc. talk out of their asses because they try to recommend things that they heard or supposedly learned. The point being what was your doctor's speciality? If it isn't nutrition and if he/she didn't have a physical therapists/sports therapist training then their information CAN be faulty. Just because someone has an MD (NOT PhD btw.. unless they're an MD PhD) doesn't mean they know things about nutrition or exercise. Most people that go to med school only know a lot about the human body in terms of anatomy and physiology and virtually nothing about PT or nutrition which is, ironically, why they have separate degrees and professions for each person.
The point being just because someone has a "high" degree doesn't mean they can't be wrong *ESPECIALLY* if they are talking outside of their area of expertise.

Diets are just for people who want to lose weight. And there are certain times that the bad things in foods can effect you more because they are more easly absorbed rather then objected. As well as when your metabolism peaks.
Correction on a typo Diets "aren't"

Diets are just for people who want to lose weight. Not really. The 'common' concept of a diet is something you are on to lose weight, but in general a diet is just what everyone everyday ingests. A structured dieting plan like the zone or being a vegetarian isn't necessarily something to lose weight on (but it can be). In most cases with sports or fit people it will be to live healthy and is a huge part of optimizing training to get the most out of your body. As for the other stuff, yeah.
