Now first a plea: Please dont flame me. I understand what I'm going to say will be highly controversial, but lets try to keep it civil.
I watched District B13 today and it got me thinking. David Belle, the star of the film, does his stuff, but never once mentions parkour. This put some bad thoughts into my head. As the title says, I am beggining to think that Belle kinda sold his skill in order to star in a movie. He starts out as the creater of parkour, then turns into a movie star. I havent completely organized my thoughts on the subject, but i was wondering if anyone else felt this way, or had anything to say on the subject.
Again, lets keep the flaming to a low.

He didn't mention Parkour because it's not Parkour in the movie. To use the name Parkour when it doesn't apply is selling out. To sell Parkour as ANY "extreme movement" is selling out. Look at Urban Freeflow. Now look at David Belle. See the difference? One sells Parkour as a commodity. The other made an entertaining movie using skills developed through Parkour yet in no way markets Parkour itself.

No one is going to flame you man, you could believe that david belle will be acomponied by fred flinstone and race the horesmen of the apocolypse for all we care, so long as there isnt a thread about it already and/or you present a resonable argument justifing it.

in the "making of" section of the movie they talk about parkour. and i truely believe Belle has the interest of Parkour at heart in every decision he makes....its his baby

The movie was written for his art. they talk alot about it in the special features. now when we have vaults called the Belle kong with a Cyril twist then he would have sold out

personally, I think he did the write thing by not talking about it in the movie, cause that would have made the movie a "parkour movie" which would be selling out parkour in a way.

It's obvious where the inspiration came from and of course they're going to talk about it in the "Making of" sections. The point is that it wasn't packaging and producing Parkour itself as a commodity to be sold.

alright. thank you. i think i may have been looking at the movie the wrong way. i think i was kinda expecting some sort of documentary-esque type movie about pk. and then when i saw him as an actual actor, it wasnt exactly what i was expecting.

He is an actor. Obviously if you are making an action movie you want to make it with the best possible people right?
